Advice? Sad
I was playing with Bella giving her a belly rub and lots of "baby" talk when she sat up licked my face then bit my nose?!? It hurt like hell but she didn't draw blood. she's done this a few times before but not that hard! shes given the odd nip when shes got excited, how do I get her out of this? she's done it since we got her around 3/4 weeks ago (shes now around 5 months old) but Telling her NO and ignoring her isn't working Sad We have two toddlers so we cant have her doing this

From a very gutted mummy Sad

I'm sorry, but that did make me laugh. I know it isn't a laughing matter really, but I think we've all been there, done that!

She's still very young and is still learning what's acceptable & what isn't. Just yelp or tell her "no" and stop all play/fuss etc immediately. She will get the idea soon. Big Grin

No worries, she'll learn, just takes a while for some. Loki still bites now when he gets VERY excited, but for the most part he's out of it finally. Just keep doing what you're doing, the no/yelp and then ignoring, then if she continues, put her in a separate room for a few minutes. She'll learn, it'll just take some time. It's hard for them to stop doing something that comes naturally to them, and even harder to remember it when they're excited. Just carry on Smile

Agree with Caryll. It does take some time and consistancy but they do learn. She may also be teething as well.

I also found that "no" and ignoring didnt help me either. I started putting Alfie in a separate room for a few minutes when he bites me which seems to be a lot more affective! Find something that works and keep at it, you will both get there Smile

Been there...many times lol. Don't worry yourself, it's very normal and we've all had it.

I too had to put Logan in the other room for a few minutes as a "time out". He is so stubborn and excitable the "no" just made him worse. However, it is a technique that works with other dogs.

Whatever works for you stick to it and be consistent and patient. One day it just clicks with them...it's the best day ever Laughing

Keep up with the training and and be consistent it will come, don't be disheartened - We have had off moments with Otis be he has leart (99%) and is miles better than when we first got him. They are very excitable dogs and I think sometimes they just get so wrapped up they have a blip. Good luck

It does blooming hurt!! Laughing and Saffy drew blood a good few times until her needle-like baby teeth fell out!

It does get better though! They seem to swap nipping for licking....then you end up playing dodge the tongue up your nose or even worse....in your mouth Laughing

buck does this and ALWAYS manages to catch my septum which stings like hell/makes my eyes water

ive learned to keep my face out of the way when hes excited but a sharp "NO" usually stops him in his tracks and hes slowly getting the idea.
