Why do fireworks start so early?! Haven't people got better things to spend their money on than watch it go up in smoke?! I have once again been caught out and had a petrified staffie trying to dig his way under my floor and it is the hardest thing to not give him a cuddle & reassure him. Unfortunately the diazepam will have to come out tomorrow night and probably for the next fortnight coz that's how long people insist on setting these bloody things off for! And rant over. . . for now! angry

I tried to ram a firework up someone's **** last year when they set a load off across the street from me and aimed the lot at my house and garden.

Raging wasn't the word for it. Not heard a peep out of them all year. Wink

You tried a Thundershirt? Meant to help calm them down. Worth a try, maybe? Loki isn't scared of fireworks when he's in the house, but a while back some idiots lit a firework that went off right next to us when we were walking down the street, so that shook him up. Not a fan of fireworks anyway.

I'm quite lucky that we live close to a firing range so Dext has heard gun fire and bangs since he was a pup and isn't overly fussed by fireworks. I'll be leaving the tv on loud when we go to a display next week for him just in case with us not being in.

I am going to try a thundershirt. . . I've tried pretty much everything else! Adaptil diffuser, adaptil collar, zylkene etc. Behaviourist has recommended sounds scary cd but obviously it's too late this year to start the programme, and to be honest bit sceptical, have a few friends who have had no success with it. Diazepam certainly takes the edge off him but I don't want to have to drug him up for the rest of his life!
