Anyone ever built a kennel?
I'm going to have a go at building a triple-ply, double-insulated kennel for the rescue I foster for - all but two of their kennels are proper commercial jobs - and I want to replace the two with something very warm.
Has anyone got any tips about weather-proofing them - don't want to end up poisoning the dogs.
Anyone ever built one for the fun of it? Did it turn out ok? Any pics?
The more pics the merrier - it keeps Dave happy.

Re: Anyone ever built a kennel?
I'm not good at simple things and tend to always over engineer them to the point where it would be cheaper to buy
2 x 1 frame , marine ply both sides, kingspan in the cavity kind of thing, I've got the only shed in the sreet bigger than 7 x 5 with UPVC double glazed windows
Think you've got to go with felt on the roof , all kennels have that.

Sounds familiar... I bought Steff a kennel, she refuses to go in it, if i leave it in the loungeroom with the top off she uses it as a napping bed, if the lid is on she won't go near it but come 10:30pm she is in my queen size bed with a pillow and duvet and her camel teddy...

Re: Anyone ever built a kennel?
I plan on building our 2 a lean to annex to the shed next year so they have somewhere to chill out in the garden and keep out of the sun but that is as far as I would take it

Will take a pic of it when it's built.
Plan is to make a slope-roofed, hinged roofed, triple ply, double insulated, raised, adjustable door'ed, collapsible and portable palace.
It will probably look like a cardboard box with nails in it though.

Near Stamford, which is near Peterborough.
Managed to do a temp repair to a huge stable door today which had warped and popped one hinge at the rescue, so feeling like a handyman right now.
Need to get the pop rivet gun out tomorrow - one of the beagles has an absolutely amazing knack for pulling sheet steel away from its mounts - never seen anything like it. We joke that when he's adopted, he'll dig his way out and come back to the rescue.
Lol.
What you thinking Dave?

Hubby and me have been to the classic car show at Stamford, we last went about 5 years ago, do they still have it there. It was in August I think.
