Re: Dry food help!
Personally wouldn't reccomend either. There not very good for them. I use Royal canin, little dearer but by far better.

Re: Dry food help!
Sorry if i sound a bit gross but tiny has had to have his anal glands squeezed twice in 3 months do you think maybe the food could be causing this?

Re: Dry food help!
Certainly could be the food. My first had it a lot and we had her on Bakers. Mine now can't eat anything like that, gives her the runs. The smell of the glands is nasty, but hers was because they where too small and just got blocked.

Re: Dry food help!
bakers is like feeding mcdonalds to your kids every day full of crap it even says on it not to be fed to pigs so what does that say them things eat everything i fed my last staff on that for the first 6 years of his life untill i found out and i still reckon that what gave him skin trouble .

You are not a bad parent my older dog Lady who is 15 has only eva ate pedigree chum and I have learned since coming on the forum that that isn't that good. That is why the forum is good nobody knows it all and everyone try's to help each other.

I feed kaiser wainwrights and he loves it specially the duck one. He was fussy when it came to dry food so its best really to see what suits him

Re: Dry food help!
I got Blue the duck one last time and he started getting bored of it by the end of the bag.....got him the turkey & rice one again he loves that one. How light are the biscuits in the duck one

Re: Dry food help!
Charlie is on Wainwights too, he absolutely loves it and he looks good on it. I wouldn't feed any of the commecial brands ie Bakers, Pedigree chum etc, cos it's just filled with crap. I've head that Bakers can cause stomach ulcers too. Sorry, don't want to make you feel worse. You're not a bad parent, half the stuff I know I only learnt from this fantastic forum, so don't blame yourself, it's not as if you knew it was crap and still fed it.

Re: Dry food help!
Basically dont buy him anything u can get in the supermarkets. Go to a pet shop and let them help you choose. You dont have to buy the most expensive one in there but where dog food is concerned u get what u pay for lol (in most cases). Like people have said wainwrights & james wellbeloved are at the cheaper end of the higher quiality foods and are both good and a hell of alot better than bakers/pedigree. I feed jameswellbeloved. x
Guest- Guest
Re: Dry food help!
James Wellbeloved is a good one and not to expensive, i now use Pro Science because Samson has a sensitive stomach its expensive but keeps him right
Guest- Guest
Re: Dry food help!
Molly was on bakers, we were then told by the vet to take her off it, she then went onto james wellbeloved, it's a good food. Our ferrets live on it too, and they're thriving!

Kaiser loves the duck one thats all i buy him i didnt get the turkey one because the protein isnt very high in it and ive heard staffys are best having about 25% protein i think the duck is 23. What do u mean about the duck ones being light or is it just a joke and im not getting it lol. have u tried blue on the lamb one yet keep wanting to change the flavour of kaisers but chicken out incase he dont like it he is a fussy bugger

Re: Dry food help!
The duck biscuits are allot lighter than the turkey & rice ones. They seem strange like an areo version of a dog food lol
You get the biggest bags like me then?
I got turkey & rice first time......then I thought I would try him with a different flavour as the poor thing is probably sick of them, so I go the duck one but he hardly ate as he got towards the end of the bag so thats why I have gone bck to the turkey one for now......playing it safe.
Will be looking into barf after my life is a little less hetic.

Re: Dry food help!
Hollie's on the Turkey n Rice (Wainwrights) and for the last fortnight she's been very windy and they smell really bad, not sure if its the food or the small puppy biscuits she has as a treat.

I've been feeding my 8 year old staff bakers and I'm shocked it isn't good for her. I'm glad I came on the forum.
