Hello...just after views, spoke to the vets about getting sonic microchipped and they recommended one with a thermometer in it so when they need their temp taking the chip is just scanned......i am not sure whether i like the idea of it as i am duress it must contain chemicals to be able to take a temp...but would prevent a poorly dog having a thermometer inserted....what to do?

Never heard of a chip that takes temps, how technology moves on! Personally I would stick with the regular one, but times change!

It's OK no nasty chemicals involved at all, please take a look at the link below. It works by using a very small metal strip which changes it's electrical resistance as temperature changes. The scanner is effectively reading the resistance and calculates temperature based on the value:

Looks like a good idea to me.

It will be digital not have any chemicals. It will actually give a pretty decent and fast reading.

Be perfectly safe as Kathy says , it's not like a mercury thermometer and will be a thermistor based device Smile

Learned something new. I didn't know they had these but they sound like a great idea.
