Re: Cat friends
Are the cats declawed? At that age the pup is going to be curious and want to interact. As long as the cats have places they can escape to it should be alright.
There are lots of folks on here with cats as well so I'm sure someone will be along with better advice

Re: Cat friends
Hi, best way I've found is using a stair gate to separate them, you will find that cats are naturally nosy, they will sit one side of the gate and taunt the dog, because you dogs a pup and a lovely one!! He will start interacting with the cat and trying to play with his paws. The cat then takes the next step of going puppy side of gate, whereupon pup starts to chase and you have to firmly stop it and reward the pup when it stops, eventually they come to a truce and some cats even become best mates with the dog! Just don't try putting cat and dog straight together it doesn't work and fur and claws will be flying!! Good Luck!!

Re: Cat friends
I'm sure things will settle down. At the moment the cats are living upstairs which is out of bounds for him.

Re: Cat friends
We have a 19 year old cat and Duke is ten weeks old Duke wants to play the cat doesn't he greets the cat every morning wagging his tail and shoving her round the room , the cats spits but at her age can not be bothered she jumps onto a chair under the table and Duke goes away .
If the cats are at the home before the pup then the pup will accept the cat /cats .
