Dislike of certain dogs?
Had a bit of an issue today and it kinda follows on from my previous post here:
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t24646-first-signs-of-agression-please-help
Took Ralph for a nice walk with some of the dogs from the puppy classes we went to. There were 2 groups, one group under 8 months, and the other group was over 8 months. He hadn't met most of the dogs before, I think there was just 2 from our actual class. In total, there was about 14 in the both groups.
As Ralph is 7 and a half months, we went in the unders group.
Ralph was socialising well until we met Max, a labradoodle, who basically was big like a Labrador and had the body and colour of one, but the head shape of a poodle. Anyway, that's irrelevant... Max was very submissive, bounding up to all the dogs and immediately laying straight down on his back in front of them.
He came over to Ralph who was off lead and did exactly what I described. Ralph took offence to this and got on top of him, growling and snarling. Teeth showing. Interestingly, I don't think Ralph actually bit, but it didn't look or sound nice, so I pulled him off. I let it calm down and let go again. Max came over and exactly the same thing happened so I put Ralph on the lead.
Every time Max came anywhere near him Ralph was growling and pulling towards him. It was just Max, Ralph didn't bat an eyelid at any of the others.
After a while, I decided to join the other group of slightly older dogs as this Max was doing my head in, kept coming over to wind Ralph up!
I let Ralph off the lead and he played quite happily with al, the dogs there. No probs whatsoever.
Any ideas on why this is anyone?

Re: Dislike of certain dogs?
dogs are like people. sometimes they just take an instant dislike to other dogs, people, trees, toys whatever!
it could have being that this max dog was just winding him up or smelt a funny colour.
Tia has only really being funny with one dog and thats because the other dog was too giddy! every other dog shes met though has being a fab experience

Could have been that Max was just giving off the wrong vibes, it happens sometimes.

where was Max's owner in all of this not trying to help at all, sure there was some work to be done from their side to try and aid the meeting

Max's owner did nothing at all. I kept Ralph on the lead the whole time after the second incident - it was an hour's walk - and he kept coming over all the time. I was huffing and puffing a bit but they didn't do anything.
I couldn't really say anything either as I help the lady out at the dog school, and it's one of her customers.
