What was I thinkin !!
Long story short .. went to an authentic italian resturant not long ago and being VERY brave, decided to try a sea food pasta dish (never tried sea food really) .. didnt think much of the cockles, mussels, but strangely liked the squid that was in the dish
Anywho, went for my birthday meal last night (oh's treat ) .. and thought .. ya know what .. I'm gonna have pan fried squid for my starter as I enjoyed it so much the first time ...
WTF!!!! ... it was dis-feckin-gustin ... we have been to this bistro a couple times before and though the food is boarderline "a la carte" its absolutly gorgeous grub .. but the squid was almost as nature intended, very fresh, and was merely walked past the pan .. it looked like tripe, and the smell was about as appatising
LESSON LEARNED !!! .. never again
I will add tho, the rest of the meal was outstanding

Yup Napalm curries sound good , Oysters just the thought makes me as it slides down my throat and I'm gagging , and worse still if I accidentally chewed it on the way

The only time i have tried squid was the dreaded "onion ring" mistake. I promptly spat it out and have a fear of onion rings in buffets now lol

The thing i hate about them is that they usually don't take out the s*** first, so that goes down too!

I'm not brave at all with food, I've never tried squid or oysters and I don't think I want to now lol.

I love oysters, they do have to be very fresh though, calamari is gorgeous if it's cooked properly which usually isn't for very long as it does go tough quickly. I feel it may have been the chefs fault that the dish was ruined for you unfortunately.

Re: What was I thinkin !!
Fresh oysters are not for me, but calamari cooked the right way is bellissimo. You were lucky it wasn't over cooked as is often the case and really rubbery.
Pity it was not as you expected......

I love seafood but I don't like shellfish and I certainly wouldn't eat calamari

I hate oysters! I tried them twice - the first time I was sick afterwards & the second time I just felt ill!

Not much of a fan of seafood. I tried squid and it was cooked badly because it was rubbery. The worst things were the mussels though, I don't understand how anyone can like them.
