Not allowed his 1st jab :(
Well we took Marley to the vets on friday for his 1st jabs and guess what his not big enough
The vet was lovely and gave him a little health check and was happy with how much weight he has put on since weve had him and his condition (which we cant thank f4d food enough!!). He is supposed to be 8 weeks tomorrow she thinks he will be 7 weeks, which means he was only 6 weeks when we took him
She was great (i think she could see my horror!) and told us what a great job we was doing with him being so young and has agreed that providing his weight is up again next week to do his jabs then and we will have to wait a while before she will even consider microchipping him. He weighed 1.8kg when we got him and he is now 2.4kg so we are getting there nice and slowly.. i will of course up load more piccys soon x

at least your vet showed responsibility rather than a desire for financial gain, have patience and your time will come

Wow !
I think all breeders need to somehow be made to chip and give at least 1st vaccine before letting the pups go.
Anyway, your lad may be small right now but they go thru crazy growth spurts ! He will catch up x

What about people like me who won't now give any jabs? I don't want breeders to give something I wouldn't myself

Re: Not allowed his 1st jab :(
When we had gsd pups all prospective owners were allowed to come to the vets for a health check and if they wanted the pups would be able to get their jabs if the new owners wanted
That way I knew my babies would at least be ok from the start
Luckily most went to friends so I still see them now 12 years on

Re: Not allowed his 1st jab :(
Personally I'd be happier getting a pup that's been jabbed and chipped. These are pretty much the basics I'd expect from any breeder.

Chipped yes, jabbed no, as any of my future pups will not be getting jabbed, so it should not be forced on anyone. Offered yes but no more.

Please excuse my ignorance but why wouldn't you want your pup jabbed?

Re: Not allowed his 1st jab :(
Because of all the health risks linked with vaccinations, and also the fact they give 4-5 shots in one, which is far to much on a young immune system.
I do not vaccinate my dogs, and also don't use any chemicals on them at all.
I've done ALOT of research into it and it's very much personal choice

So your dogs have never had a single jab ever?? Have you ever had any health problems from not getting them done?? It will be one of them interesting debates a bit like childhood vacines!! x
They couldnt have chipped Marley when i got him even if i wanted them to as he was far to small my vet wont do it till his 2nd set, but e does have a collar and a tracks tag on it x
