Its on the Macclesfield RSPCA page but no indication as to how old the report is, been linked into a few dog theft warning on fb in the last couple of days most seem to give reports from Scotland and a vehicle traced to the Cambridge area.

Its not a bad thing to be more aware of the people around you

found a couple other links on a GSD forum and somewhere else dating back to 18.02.12, no reports of dog thefts just offers of purchase but all seem to recall a Red Escort Van , around Blackpool and also Cambridge, no reg no available.
Sorry I didnt leave any more infor yesterday I literally just found it from a friend as I was off to bed so logged back on to post.
Ultimately exercise caution wherever you are Sad

Lots of small dogs and staffies going missing lately in my area Sad It's a sad thing to see so many "missing" posters on facebook at the moment, mostly small crosses like yorkies or similar, can guess what they are being stolen for. A dog fighting ring was found a while back in my area when I first moved into my house I'm in now and the same sorta thing was happening then so I can imagine it's happening again. Although, a girl had her 2 whippets stolen out of her back garden about 3 weeks back, the day before some young locally known gypsy lads had tried to buy them off her for £100 even shown her the money and everything. CCTV was shown and it was them that nicked them but they had let them go wandering the streets and were found 24 hours after they went missing. The boys haven't been seen since. So everyone, watch your doggies if in the back garden for even 5 minutes.

Makes you so mad Sad Have found recently that the usual lurcher breeders are now breeding toy dogs and the more expensive breeds. Had a raid a few months back and came away with British and American bull dogs, Chihuahuas, Bichon frises.. all sorts!! And any that have come in as strays they'll just pick up a few weeks later when they "can be bothered" and get aggressive and violent if they've been re-homed! Ridiculous.. Even had people trying to steal dogs from their kennels while we're cleaning!!

I'm kind of helping run my local rescue this weekend and will be taking car keys as deposit if people want to walk a dog.
Call me cautious but you do get some oddballs at the various rescues from time to time.

Ooh no we already take a form of photo ID and something valuable before allowing them out for walks, can never be too cautious with dogs Laughing this is when we're hosing the outsides of pens...had a bloke go into one of the kennels I had just hosed and try and lift the hatch to get the dog out!! Can't lock them all behind us as we have to go in three times to hose, disinfect and then scrape, would take us hours with 40 kennels to do each.. just sad how little morals people have!
