Same old topic ....................
R A I N !!
If I do a site search on the word it comes up with all sorts and there is no doubt about it that lots of Staffies hate the rain so I wont even go there and I have just dragged her around the block in it with her coat on which she hated with a passion, but I do have a question.
How long can Staffies to without taking a pee????
I am now up to 14 hours and still counting. She didn't do anything when we were out - I have never had a bitch before, at least with a dog he will always have a 'go'. I have gotten myself all anxious over it - probably because I am thinking of what I would feel like if I hadn't had one for 14 hours!!! The weather forecast says there will be a break on Thursday - oh joy.

That sounds like a long time to hold it for. I would stay out until she has gone for a widdle.

Definately stay out until she goes. If they hold it too long it can cause problems down the line. They get used to the rain after a bit. A rain coat helps to.

Pixee hates the rain, I tricked her, saying walkies, got her ready, and made her cross the canal lock to the woods area, where the rain wasnt too bad, buy boy she looked at me saying, you crazy, did her business, thank god, and ran back over the lock home looking back at me saying crazy woman
I would make them do a wee, cos its too long to go without a wee.

I know - but its so heavy, I have only just got back so you would think she was desperate enough to do it the first time. She chasing her kong around the floor at the moment and doesn't look in the least put out - she has even had her mackerel for breakfast. We have only had her a few months and up to now there has usually been a break when we could nip out.
I've just read the other comments and I'm getting my coat back on as we speak

Mine won't go out n pee either, so I've resorted to tough love.
Chuck them both in the garden then shut the door, they don't come bk in till they do their business. It works !!

Yay Jackie, I wish I had read your post before. I just did the very same thing and after sitting outside the door for ages she trotted off down the garden to a place out of sight where I have to assume she did it as thats where she usually goes. Phew!!! Only another 3 days to go - forecast a break on Thursday.

Teddy couldn't care less about the rain. Took him out to a dog event yesterday and it poured down all day but he was fine with it even without a coat.

When I take Dusty and Ellie out for a wee in the rain, Ellie will go under the table for a wee but Dusty hides under my motorbike cover until I let her back in (without having a wee). Time to invest in a new winter coat for all of us I think

Ledger normally pesters to go out every couple of hours we went out first thing and it wasn't raining too bad but at lunchtime it was bucketing even with his coat on it was a job to get him out of the door, he shot under the first big tree did his leg lift then pulled to go back home again i'm of work sick so it suits me, he has been shivering on my knee ever since though we are now both curled up under a duvet

Re: Same old topic ....................
She may hate the rain, but you'll have to just make her go out in it for her own good. Loki actually peed in the house today because he refused to go outside in the rain, first time he's done that in ages. So yeah, I don't know how long they can hold it for, but if she needs to go, she'll have to go, rain or not. She'll soon learn that the quicker she does it, the sooner she gets back in the warm house.

Re: Same old topic ....................
Romeo would have a heart attack if i used that on him (in ref to the dog lead umbrella), he doesnt even like it when I have an umbrella.
Romeo does the 5 second dash in the rain, i left him out the front door to the apartment building, he runs to the grass, he pees as he runs on the grass and then he zips back inside
Re: Same old topic ....................
I'm glad I read this thread as I thought Kuchar was such a wuss for not going out in the rain, but it seems to be another Staffie thing. And Just when I'd got him house trained too!
