Foster Homes..

Does anybody have any tips or suggestions on how to find foster homes in the South West of England (Preferably Bristol/Bath and surrounding areas)

We're currently really REALLY struggling to find foster homes for our Staffies, with people that have experience of the breed.. Everyone just wants "a little dog" or a puppy and we've got a very large amount of staffies in desperate need and really not coping with kennels! Any help would be great!

Try writing to the breed correspondent in the dog papers & ask them to mention it in their columns. Might help.

If you go online & look for Our Dogs newspaper, you should be able to get the breed correspondent's details for that one as well.

I live in that area and might be able to help you find foster homes. I will speak to a few people. We might also be in the position to foster in a few months time. We have young pups at the moment so it would be a bit difficult, also one of our dogs can be quite reactive to new dogs but I can usually work through this with her quite quickly. I will definately speak to some people in the area for you, but as Caryll says advertising would be the best way, perhaps you could put some posters up in vets in the local area? I would be happy to do this if you wanted to get one made up too. I am in Bath a couple of times a week and could do Radstock, peasedown, midsomer norton etc.

Ahhhh you're a star that would be brilliant, if you could have an ask around and get them to contact Jess at Bristol Dog's Home if they are interested, don't say from forums though just say you saw information on the website! As far as i'm aware we've got an ad in a magazine, one going into the evening post and posters up in vets etc but I will double check!

Had quite a few come forwards but 99% don't want staffies unfortunately, and the rest just have no experience at all with dogs so our more difficult dogs that are stressed (which the fostering was initially set up for) are being left behind. Of course our easy dogs of "friendly" breeds get adopted or fostered within days so now we're left with a rescue centre full to the brim of bull crosses and nobody to help them

So should I make up my own poster or is there one I should use which has been posted in newspapers and thingS?

if i lived in englad i'd probally have about 20 rescues by now. i'd foster, romeo is great with other dogs, pity i live in finland
