Was in pets at home today with tash, having a whale of a time with everyone coming up and stroking her, i love it. This man walked up and was saying she was beautiful and just picked her up and put her in his arms on her back, she just licked his face but i thought this very innapropriate and im glad she got so excited that she weed on him! Am i overreacting?

No, I wouldn't have liked it either! I'm sure he meant no harm, but it's not really the done thing, is it?

I would not have been happy at all. People coming up to a pup and stroking and making a fuss is great for socialization, but actually picking up a strangers pup? Not cool.

I would've been annoyed if that was me, picking a random puppy up without even asking first is just rude at best.

It is always best to ask the handler before you pet a pup or dog and espically if you are going to pick them up.

i'd be annoyed as well,i know people go all gooey when they see a pup,(i;ve been known to make my hubby stop the car,so i can have a peep at a passing pup!)i do try and make a point of asking to stroke it let alone picking some ones pup up,sounds like he got his reward when tash weed on him Laughing

yes i know tash is irresistable and i love people making a fuss as it is better than some of the looks you get from brainwashed idiots but he did go one to far i think.

She loved it, its just me

That would have annoyed me too, it's not something I would ever do. I would just give a little fuss after asking that it's OK with you.

I work in Pets at Home and this would be extremely unacceptable on any level.

It's general common sense to always ask the owner if you can pet a dog, regardless of age because they might be in training or aggressive or whatever.

We also should ask before giving treats at the counter etc.

I watched a colleague the other day bend over to pet a Daschund and it went for him. I did laugh.
