So have had Percy for 4 weeks now, and have done a lot of research into the breed and general puppy needs etc, and have worked really hard with Percy on socialising, meeting different people, dogs, animals, parks, woods, children, bikes cars etc and also the behaviour needed in these different situations...and we have both had loads of fun. Percy is (fingers crossed) growing up to be a smashing lad that is so much fun to be with and for other people/dogs to meet Smile

This morning whilst out walking we met a 13 week old staffy puppy, myself and the other owner were both happy to meet such a similar dog, but her puppy was just sooooo grumpy, imediatley started to growl and snarl and show its teeth to Percy. Percy was sat eagerly waiting to play...with a puzzled look on his face. So we took a few steps apart and she tries to calm her pup and she said shall we try again, I agreed as Percy was still sitting calmly. So she let's her puppy have a bit more lead and again he instantly begins to growl, snap and snarl at Percy. Percy gave him a bark and I took a step back and regained his attention and got him to sit.

I asked if this was a first or does he always react like this? Her response was.....
" oh he's a right evil puppy, hates other dogs. Gonna be a beast when he older" !!!!!!!!!!!!

She then walked on.....wow what an owner I thought, was so shocked by her response!

Lou xx

Sorry that should of said ....wow what an *answer* I thought (whoops)

Ermmmmm what a strange reply to make. Sounds almost like she didnt want to socialise the puppy, very odd. We have to say Hello to as many people and dogs as possible when out on walks with Rocky. I've never had so many friends in all my life.

Good job with Percy. Cant understand the woman's silly and uneducated response.

Good work.
No one ever got good at something without practising.
Same goes for dogs and their socialisation.

You have every right to be proud of yourself and Percy, he is a very lucky boy to have found you.

This poor other pup doesn't stand a chance thanks to his idiot owner, it is dogs and owners like he has that give Staffies a bad name. If you see her again try and get her to come here were she will get advice for her pup.

well done on your hard work and shame on this woman for the lack of effort from her , sounds like she hasn'r done anything and just resigned herself to having a problem dog , which is rubbish at that age.
