Pixee deserves a gold star
Yes she does
Real proud of her I am.
On monday, we went walkies through woods, into the fields where we go alot. Its actually a massive football ground. From the opening of the woods into the fields I spotted a dog off lead, so I called out stay, she stayed in the opening, whilst I put her lead on. She had already spotted the dog too, and yet she stayed when asked. On walking into the fields, it was in fact two choc labourours running round, bless them with their owners. I thought, as they going back to another opening to the woods, we would walk across the middle of the fields, I soon let Pixee off the lead, said come on lets play. Althought Pixee kept looking back at the dogs, she did as she was told, and was very happy to run around as normal. I noticed Pixees ears had picked up, so I turned round, and those two dogs were running towards her. I said, 'sit', she sat, I walked calmly over to her, put her lead back on. I could see the owners were trying to call their dogs back to no valid. They both started to have a sniff round of Pixee, she just stood there looking somewhat started and amused. The one owner started to run toward her dogs, they went back to her. So I let Pixee off the lead again, and we carried on walking. I checked back to make sure they were with their owners, oh boy no, they were running back towards Pixee, this time I was fed up, told Pixee to sit again, she sat, and waited. I put the lead back on. One dog went back, but one didnt and wanted to play with Pixee. The owner came running over very red faced shouting at her dog. I just smiled thinking what a good girl Pixee had been. Shouting at dogs in my books does not help.
Last night me and Pixee went back to those fields for a play. As light was falling too, we took the fisbree, had a great time, and there was another dog off lead, and not once did either come near one another ever though Pixee spotted the dog, but carried on playing. And to think in the early days, she just ran off toward any dog when she got the chance, and I couldnt get her back, its not the case now. So proud of her I am. As always, she is put back on lead around small dogs just in case.

Re: Pixee deserves a gold star
Yes Pixee you do deserve your gold star
It seems to me that if owners are calm then usually dogs will be too and shouting dosn't achieve anything only cause stress.
Sounds like you are really making good progress, keep up the good work

Great work! Isn't it wonderful when they do as they are asked? Makes you feel like you won the lotto or something!

Re: Pixee deserves a gold star
How old is Pixee now? Well done to her and for you too, you've obviously put the effort into training her . I find that Loki is just so enthusiastic about running back to me that I can shout him back in a happy voice and he'll come bounding to me even if he was looking at another dog or person . Pixee did very well though, must be a huge relief to trust her with that

Well done Pixee
Couldn't come and have a word with Teddy could you.
On our evening walk the other night, one of the farmhouses up the lane had put their rubbish out for bin day. They had put out a suitcase, one of those patterned ones and I have to admit it was awful. Teddy growled at it so doing what I have been told I walked him over to it so he could have a look and see it was not going to hurt him or attack him. He still sat there gently snarling at it, guess he didn't like the pattern! On the way back he walked straight past it and never gave it a second glance.
Regards
Simon
