help needed..my staffy bit my mom and daddy
My staffy is almost a year old. first thing to mention is ...He DOES NOT chew on toys or shoes or furniture
It is a rescue dog from a neglecting household, brought in at around the age of 4 months. He has been really friendly, and playful and surprisingly obedient. his history is unknown and since i bought him at a bitter note i cannot go back to the previous owners for history
BUT
this has happened twice which shocks me
he once bit my father, and not a simple pounce a full fledged, teeth sticking , bleeding bite
that was three months back
and now my mother
we have had dogs in my house since my childhood
we rarely put a leash on them and yet they have been really kind
first a alsatian cross, then a dobermann and now him
in the morning when we have our tea
she was just checking her paw for ticks and he , without warning bit her straightway, full fledged bite,
no growling or warning before the bite. what shocks me the most because she is the one who feeds him most of the time. he doesnt like her going out and when she comes back he is the happiest being in the world
i don't know what to do. everybody is upset. my dog is visibly upset but i dont know what is wrong
he is extremely playful and friendly otherwise
i take him on walks without a leash and he comes back to me on just one call
i need your help. because i might be forced to send him away and do not want to do that but this behaviour is unacceptable
problem is that he DID NOT display any signs of being upset or any warning like growling or barking on both occasions
i dont know what to do
i make him run around the park when i return from work
my sister has a 5 year old who likes to play with dogs, if he ever attacked him, i am really afraid to think of it

Re: help needed..my staffy bit my mom and daddy
I was going too say the same you have too get your dog use too being handled especially their feet if he had anything in his paw which was sore his instinct is too use his mouth too say he is in pain, and unless your Mum is someone that the dog is use too having exam him then its something you have too build up too, and as he is a rescue dog i would be alittle bit more sensitive too his moods, i,m not sure what your dad was doing too him at the time?

Is he getting two walks of 45 minutes a day?
What are you feeding him?
Is he sick or injured?

Dogs don't like their feet being touched, so if they are not used to this it can be a shock. To bite without warning is very rare, so i am thinking it might be pain. Perhaps your mother was just a little to rough.

from what i asked my mother
she had simply touched his feet to check, she did not lift it or pushed it
i too have often plucked out ticks and fleas from his paws before
more of a cause of concern is biting without any warning
