What insurance to choose?
Hello ><
I can not decided for what insurance should we go. As I newer had a pet before in UK and back in my country is no such a think like pet insurance. I red many articles, many different insurances, however advise would help a lot!
Recently I am reading reviews about M&S, animal friends and Pet plan. Very hard to choose
Would be super grateful for advise

Re: What insurance to choose?
I am with Sainsburys - top cover - very good insurance company by all accounts from what I've read on here and other sites. I think the excess is £85 and you can have vet bills sent direct to them should you need to claim. And if you're a nectar point collector- double points on your shopping for the year too, boosts up free groceries
Note that premiums generally rise in the second year - not sure why - but they do - even without claims.

Re: What insurance to choose?
I use More Than, I pay £13 a month for lifetime cover which will cover Zeus for any illness through out his life. They also pay directly to the vets.
When you're looking at insurance, I suggest you get lifetime cover because if your dog contracts something like diabetes, it'll cover him year by year, aslong as you stay with the same insurer. If you go for the budget option, it'll only cover diabetes for that year and not the next, even if you stay with the same insurer.

Re: What insurance to choose?
wow I never hear about 'More than' before, so far I liked everything what I read about it.
I am so glad that I found this forum, what I would do without this great support. Thank You very much, goldie87

Re: What insurance to choose?
I'm with M&S although iv'e not had to claim yet i think the excess is £90 for illness. And they pay up to £4,000 a year but only £1,000 per illness. Its like £11 a month. I'm thinking of upgrading though because it's only a couple £ more and they pay more for each illness. Just hoping Tango doesn't get a ongoing illness though
Good luck finding the right deal to suit you

Re: What insurance to choose?
We are with PetPlan since that is who we used for our last dog (a weimaraner, called Ghillie) - over the course of Ghillie's life I think they probably paid out about £4000 in vet bills, no questions asked. These bills were for things like in-turned eyelashes when he was a pup, treatment for a potential heart condition (which it turned out not to be) and treatment for cancer at the end of his life. Not cheap on the premiums, but overall we have no complaints about them.

Re: What insurance to choose?
We have insured Rocky with Argos Pet Insurance on a Lifetime policy. The premium is £15.24 per month.
We were previously with PetPlan who wanted £22.50 per month for the same cover.
With Argos we went for the Platinum Policy which should pay out £7,000 in vet fees, £2 Million in 3rd Party Liability and with £65 excess per incident.
Hope this helps.

I was with pet plan (it was also mentioned by my local vets and in the puppy pack) then read the above quote about Argos, contacted them and they were much cheaper! platinum policy it is!
