Snapped toenail Empty Snapped toenail

Post by StuW Tue Aug 14 2012, 11:28

Bailey had quite a long nail but today I looked after his morning walk and seen it had snapped, unsure if I should just leave it as its not bothering him and he's not in pain or anything but I don't have the nerve to cut it incase it's too far up the nail?

He may nibble it his self and pull it off which is the best out come rather than dashing to the vets or you trying to clip it.

If after a few days the broken tip has not broken off then clip the end. The quick would of shrinked back from the break so there will be no danger of you causing him pain or making the quick bleed Smile

Agree with Denise. I would clip that myself either.

I think I would leave alone too. Rockys occasionally split, he will then give it a bit of a nibble and sort it out himself.

I would of thought if there was wick at the end, since it's snapped that part would die off pretty quickly. I would probably try and clip it.

I'm tempted to clip it in case he catches it and causes more damage? But I think I'll try leave it and see if he does it himself.

Took him for his afternoon walk and it's came off, all that was needed was a wee stray bit snipped off.
