Pooing on the Deck :(
Hi
Looking for some advice on how to help Holly understand that our deck is not the toilet!...
It isnt hard to clean up and i know it is better than in the house.... BUT it is still not on the grass like she should be.
I waited 45 mins last night after her meal to catch her on the grass so that i could Click her and give her a liver puppy treat.....
finally she did and i praised her etc... if we are to catch her she goes on the grass... if we give her breakfast and leave her out side for 20 mins she poo's on the deck....
If it is raining there is no way in HELL she will step on that wet grass lol
any suggestions?.

Re: Pooing on the Deck :(
what i would do is everytime you feed her take her to the place it's all right to do he wees a numbers 2 and wait till she do it and well done and kiss make her fell she done it right you know
Re: Pooing on the Deck :(
ok I have been trying to do that
but at times it is hard to watch and and attend to the kids aswell
weill be even harder when the kids are back at school and we have a time limit..
I usually wait with her if i can and give her a big hug and a treat..
I am sure the more we do it the better she will get at it

I'm sure she'll get there much quicker than Dempsey did - he was over 6 months before I could say he was properly house trained, and even then he'd try to * his leg in the house every so often!

Molly was like that, apart from the leg thing :p
She's picking it up a lot quicker than Molly did!

Re: Pooing on the Deck :(
mel im going to be a bit different her if she likes to go on the deck and its easyer to clean than the grass why not train her in a little spot to use as her toilet i have done that with memphis round the corner were i can easily clean and hose the area down .
iv found this to be better for me as there nothing worse than trying to pick up when your pup getts a doddgy tum :-&

Re: Pooing on the Deck :(
Prob with that is she is scattering it and also the kids ride their scooters most of the day out there.. so i can imagine if i let her poo and the scoot thru it.
Tonight was a great test... we gave her dinner at 5.30pm as usual but i wasnt thinking as we had to be at dinner at 6pm... so I felt bad about putting her in the crate.... but 3 hours later we came home.. happy clean puppy and I got some liver treats again.. she went out and started to sniff at the deck... I just kept encouraging her down on the grass without force and when she started to run around a lil crazy i knew she was thinking about pooing...
I said "wee holly".. she ran up the side and big a huge poo... i clicked her , as soon as she heard the click she came running backk to me for a treat...
YEAH... i think we are getting somewhere.. and the fact that the poor thing had to hold on knowing she needed a poo after dinner.. I was so proud

Re: Pooing on the Deck :(
The lid doesn't need to go down, silly, just the seat! The lid can stay up & look decorative. The seat MUST go down or it's such a shock if you don't notice & you try to sit...........
