Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
You could try smearing some Vicks, or Oil of Cloves (very small amounts) over the bits you don't want him to chew - it'll stink for a while, but they don't normally like the taste or the smell!

Also, remember that this is only a phase. We all have been there and they do come out the other side... hope the oil works for you. Sprays need reapplying too often as Caryll has said.

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
I can second the stag bars Rocky loves his, any chew toys you can find will help.
The nylabones are quite good too. Something like this would be OK:

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
My pup started to take an interest in wood around the house, until i introduced him to the almighty stag bar, stag bar, stag bar..... Ralph is 14 weeks, he loves it, i got a large (wasn`t as large as i expected, but its large enough) from Ebay cost £9.99 delivered. Also got him a nylabone when i was at the vets, he did like it when he was 9-10weeks, now he doesn`t touch it at all, to interested in his stag bar, a god send never heard of them till i joined this forum, superb for chewers, great for teeth, a must have i think.

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
I feel your pain - my boy had a HUGE thing for anything wooden too. I found that squrting lemon or vinegar, or deodarant or perfume onto the wood before we left the house worked wonders. And as Ben says, it's a phase. I no lonfger have to spray anything when we leave, as they mature, they do grow out of these behaviours usually.

What about crate training too? So you know he's safe when you're not in, and not eating the house!?
I noticed the stag bars in PAH the other day, I'd not seen them in there before. I'd got Ralph's off Amazon.

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
Our trainer says they're like babies--they need to be in your sight, or in their crate, until they're a year old.
Callie seems to be getting indifferent to bitter apple and will actually lick Vicks off my hand...if she starts nibbling furniture we just pull her off and shove an antler in her mouth. She needs to chew something.

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
Bacon was chewing on everything from chairs, sofa, computer cords, tablecloths, etc... He wouldn't listen to me and I had to remove him from the room and put him on time-out. I decided I would litter the living room with his Kong, Bully Sticks, and stuffed animal toys. I can say that now at 19 weeks old he does not chew on any of those things anymore. Every now and then he'll try to chew one of those things, but an "Ah Ah" from me and he'll back off.
I think you will be surprised that one day it will click for Louie. I never thought it would for Bacon, but he's come a long way. It's hard to believe, but I'm sure it will pass as long as you keep working with him!
Best of luck!!!

You should also try a frozen kong and or frozen veggies to give him something to chew on and help with the pain.

I saw the stag bars in Pets at Home the other day too. Great to see them widely available.

Re: Chewing the house to bits!!
When we first got Zeus, he used to love biting our skirting boards, door frames, doors etc.. until I start spraying vinegar on them! He hasn't gone anywhere near them since and whenever we get the vinegar bottle out, he legs it!
