Maybe he'll get used to it - it's very different to any other chew/toy. Some dogs take a while to realise what it is.

My 2 both love them !!
Jethro gets stuck into it some nights and I worry about his poor old teeth snapping off !

Blue said all unwanted stag bars are kindly recieved. He said £20 notes as well but I told him not to be cheeky

It's not Suki's favorite either but she has lots of options. You could try coating it in peanut butter to see if that will get his intrest.

Re: stag bars didn't with with my sam!
Meiko didn't know what to do to start off, I held his close to his mouth then when he went for it I kept pulling it away he soon got the idea and took it from me. Or you could try peanut butter on the end, it's Meiko's favorite and sure to draw his attention to anything I put it on.
Re: stag bars didn't with with my sam!
Same with Zeus, he sniffed it when I first got it and left it. I think it was because he preferred rawhide instead. But now he doesn't get rawhide anymore, so he chews on the Stag bar!

Have you tried sanding a bit down or leaving one end in water in the fridge over night?

Re: stag bars didn't with with my sam!
Yeah leaving it in water overnight is meant to help sometimes. Think it brings more to the surface and softens it up to encourage the chewing

Re: stag bars didn't with with my sam!
Stag bars arrived today and Densil loved it. Also loves the bubbles. So glad I found this forum. Densil is not a bit interested in the nylabones though, and he used to eat the rawhide ones when we first got them, but recently his rawhide one is just laying around - knowing what I know now, I guess it is because they upset his stomach.

Sorry, just seen this. Apparently so, I've never had to try it but I think those were the suggestions on the stagbar label/website

Re: stag bars didn't with with my sam!
Dora loves them. I bought a new one for her yesterday. The lady in the shop said if you put the open porous end in honey over night it will all soak up and be extra yummy.
No idea if it works, just passing on the tip

Thanks for the reminder, totally forgot to do it, will pop it in water now, maybe try with honey after, although I think that could get messy lol
