Re: Barking at me
Hi and welcome to the forum
Why is she barking at you? Not all barks are aggressive in nature. My dogs bark when they get excited, they bark when they want something, they bark for the sake of barking and it all sounds different.
She is still getting used to a new owner, new surroundings etc, and this can cause some fear and anxiety, which could also lead to barking. When she barks, give her a stern no, and if she continues, ignore her completely. As long as she is not snapping or lunging toward you when she barks.
Are there any reasons for you to be afraid of her bark? What was her background before you got her?
If you are nervous of her now, she can feel it, and that could lead to some issues, because she might not see you as the dominant pack leader, which is what you are menant to be.

Good advice Chantel. Remember that she is also very unsettled. Try and remain calm and handle her with consistency and lots of patience.

Re: Barking at me
She seemed to go funny as I was preparing my daughters dinner, she was starring at her food bowl and barked so I assumed she was hungry it was a little earlier than normal but did it anyway, then when she finished she still seemed abit on edge and stood up on back legs at my kitchen side I told her down she ignored me, then I shouted no she got down and barked, I put her out in garden, she got up on table out there saw me through window and started barking at me again, when I let her back in she continued to bark towards me, I told her no and to get in her bed but she ignored me and continued to bark so I left the room and shut the gate to kitchen door, she stopped barking and eventually calmed down, then whined cos I had left her and wagged her tail when I went back in and was fine again! I'm not sure why it frightened me so much think it's just cos I'm unsure of her as her knew owner, she has no back ground of aggressive behaviour, and she wasn't snarling at me when she barked

Re: Barking at me
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
It could be that she is just seeking attention from you, if you keep giving it she will continue to seel it. Try turning your back and ignoring her if possible until she is calm and sitting down.

Re: Barking at me
Hi and welcome from us and Suki. She was most likely trying to get your attention and still hasn't settled into her new home so will be a bit nervous. Try to remain calm at all times so she doesn't sense a nervous feeling from you becuase it can very well cause her to be more nervous and bark more.

Re: Barking at me
Based on what you have said i think it is attention barking.
Don't give into attention barking or it will continue, you need to nip it in the bud and ignoring this (not even looking at the dog) is the best way to start.

Hi and welcome.
Was she anxious or spooked about something? That's the only time I've ever heard Callie bark.
