Horrible day
Just had to share what happened to my boy today. Me & my partner went shopping for no longer than an hr this morning, leaving Lennon as normal with the run of the lounge & kitchen. When we got back Lennon was nowhere to be seen in the house, the cushions from the sofa where scattered all over the lounge, couple of ornaments on the window ledge were smashed, we initially thought we had been broken into. Fortunately we found Lennon in the back garden but limping very badly. On further examination of the house, the bathroom window upstairs was wide open & there was a definate indent in the stones outside the back door. We can only imagine that he saw something outside, flung himself around the lounge & then had the thinking to run upstairs, barge the bathroom door open, jump onto the toliet & push the window open, which had been left open literally a crack, and throw himself out the first floor window! I shudder to think what could of happened! Thankfully he is ok, very sore leg & he has skinned his chin but nothing broken. Needless to say we will never leave any windows open, even a crack, again, and we will be putting the stairgate back up. It has scared me as it is totally out of character, he has been left for much longer periods of time since he was 10 wks old, and now I feel worried to leave him at all, as he obviously got himself quite worked up today.

Re: Horrible day
OMG , Hope Lennon is ok, but jumping from such a height and onto concrete i would take him to the vets in the morning for a check over.
Staffords have a high pain thresh hold and he could of jarred his shoulders or have a hair line crack in one of his legs, so i would get him checked and xrayed just to rule any damage done out.
Sending Lennon a big rug, and tell him from me his not Superman

Re: Horrible day
Thanks Denise, I actually work for a vets so was straight on the phone to Uncle James! I have a small stash of anti-inflams & painkillers so he is comfortable & sleeping now & off to the vets in the morning! Typically it is my day off! He is weight bearing on it now though so hopeful he hasnt broken anything, just jarred it. I still cannot believe it happened & we feel very stupid for leaving a window open, but grateful that we can learn from our mistake and our precious boy is ok.

Re: Horrible day
Well lucky Lennon then he has his very oven vet nurse
As for leaving the window open, we all do this if we just pop out ( upstairs windows that is) for a few minutes, and nothing like this happen would ever enter any of our minds.
Hopefully Lennons learnt from his mistakes too ... silly boy i wonder what got him all worked up.

Re: Horrible day
We think maybe new nxt door neighbours have got a cat, my friend joked that if it was the cat in our garden that got him so worked up to throw himself out of the window, that it's probably still running!

Re: Horrible day
I too recently learned my lesson about windows. Lexi got out and could have got hit by a vehicle or shot by the farmers so glad I found her. Hope your boys heals okay, staffords are so stubborn.

Re: Horrible day
Glad Lennon is Ok, and thankfully he wasn't seriously injured.
The problem with staffs is that they show no fear ( and sometimes just don't think), and they do stupid things. Silly buggers

Re: Horrible day
That could have so easily been a different story to read. That's one thing that cannot happen to us, living in a ground floor flat.
Hope there is no permanent damage done.
We have a sticker on the inside of our front door to remind us to check that doors and windows are closed and locked/bolted as we leave, but that's as much to do with the area as anything else.

Omg. So glad he is ok and I hope he gets the all clear from the vet. It must have been horrible when you realised what had happened. Wonder what spooked him so much.

Re: Horrible day
Glad to report that Lennon is going to be fine, very sore so on anti-inflam & painkillers for a few days. When we got to the vets he decided to limp on both legs! He knows he gets lots of cuddles from all the girls there if he's as pathetic as possible, Very, very lucky boy, while I was there another dog was admitted that had done the very same thing this morning, didn't sound like it had been as fortunate, probable broken leg. Lots of rest and cuddles for Lenny today!
