oh no Zac limping :'(
Hi all, you probably know we are on hols in Cornwall at the mo. Zac started limping (right paw not the one he fractured before!!) late last night, I thought he may have overdone things. He is walking fine on soft surfaces but things like concrete he is hobbling slightly. I looked at his pad and it seems there is a small crack in it. Do you think I should take him to a vets or just rest him today and see how he goes. It's not a constant hobble. Or how can I bathe his paw? He is not crying but I know with staffs he probably wouldn't anyway.
Thanks all irene and hop-a-long Zac x x

Re: oh no Zac limping :'(
You could bath the paw in warm salty water and apply neosporian or sudocream. I would also try to give him some rest, avoid high impact exercise and hard surfaces if at all possible.

Re: oh no Zac limping :'(
Thank you .... I've already bathed it in warm salty water. I rang my own vets and they suggested that and said if still limping tomorrow then take him to vets down here.
I may ring them later and book him for tomorrow morning just for peace of mind.

Re: oh no Zac limping :'(
Thanks guys x x well I took him to the vets as I just wanted peace of mind. Turns out its nothing major like broken or strained, phew. He basically has sore pads, he has overdone it on the fun (mummys fault, I feel like I should have known better : S) and walking on hard surfaces was hurting him. She said try to keep to soft surfaces and don't let him race around for few days. So we took him to the beach this afternoon and he bathed it in the sea also he has been on the moor for 10 mins. Touch wood he hasn't limped this afternoon.
Thanks for all your advise and comments x x

Re: oh no Zac limping :'(
cheeses me off when people do that. people in my area throw everything from beer bottles to sharp household objects all over the place. it's like walking Herman through a minefield oh well, glad Zac's o.k. sending him ><appollo13102000 wrote:he probably cut it on maybe a sharpe stone or maybe glass someone has left laying around on the sand bless . irrisponsible people grrr

Re: oh no Zac limping :'(
Hi, great to hear he's fine, limping can be so worrying even when you know it is not too serious, fingers crossed ><
I really don't know whether it worked or not but when Stella was limping I got her Arnica homeopathic remedy...a massage practicioner recommended it to me when we chatted about our dogs and Stella's limping. And either this or just rest did help and she's fine now

Good Luck!!! xx
