Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think what Dave is trying to say is that it could be many different things causing the problem. Have you looked at the manual or tried doing a search online to find how to solve the problem.

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just looked on google and it is a few possible things , one being a partial blockage , do you know how to check the filter ?? (normally take the plate off at the bottom and there will be a knob that you turn and pull out , sometimes you get all fluff and stuff in there , coins out of your pockets , watches , hairgrips (these are all things I've found in ours)
If you do it just remember to put a tray under it first to catch some of the water and take the hilter out a little bit at a time.
Symptoms would be just not completing cycle, not emptying , funny noises from the pump. Might save you a few quid.
As fars as getting someone out , I would say if its over 5 years old forget it unl;ess you have a friend that won't rob you , most times it wil cost at least 60 quid for them to have a look and then they tell you its something more expensive.
We always buy a new washing machine with a 5 year warranty and if it breaks after that , back out and buy a new one, in our house its never ever turned off.

In that case best check the link below. John Lewis are very good with their 5 year warrantees for about £170.00:

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a job fitting a laminate floor today in a utility room and kitchen. Got to the job and not only was everything still in the rooms but they thought it would be a good idea to start a wash load 2 mins before I turned up.
Then he said could I not move the washing machine, 6ft fridge, 6ft freezer, tumble dryer etc on my own. I told him if I move it, it will be going in Janey's flat. Sorry he moved it pretty quick

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was alright, replaced the elements that where showing the problem, and he advise to get a new one as it appears its the electrics which can cost over £400 to fix, he said he would do it if I had insurance, but I don't so cheaper to get a new one, he also advised on which one as it is intergrated they cost £200+ more than standing ones but there is a Beko that is as deep so will still fit and the door can go over.
Bye bye savings

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Janey I thought the washing machine saga was well and truly over but it seems NOT
That is wrong that they can charge your for replacing parts on a machine when other parts were going to give up the ghost in the short term as well. Surely they could see the potential risk.........
Once upon a time machines were "built to last" now they only seem to be built to last (7-10yrs before replacement)

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So sorry to hear this Janey. Your service people should get a kick up the butt. Surely they could have advised you to replace it rather than taking your money in the first place. Damn cowboys!

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Kathy, it only cost £170 for the machine, so it will be cheaper to buy a new one in 3 years time! No point insuring things imo now, they always break and they always find a way around it, and tbh over 3 years of insurance I may as well get a new one, which is what I wish I did to start with.

Yeah I must agree really it is cheaper to replace them now rather than take out the insurance tbh. I had to get a new one a couple of years ago, the original one was an indesit which only lasted about 3 years. I replaced that with a Candy which was a bit more expensive but, touch wood, so far so good.

Re: RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we always take the insurance on washing machines and Fridges etc as we always wear them out , this machine now has been the best with only 4 call outs in 3 years , insurance gone now so if it fails unless it's the fuse in the plug we will just get a new one , it costs 60 quid or so just to get someone to turn out and have a look so jus not worth the effort
