How much dry food
Need a bit of advice on feeding Roxy our 12 month Staffie bitch. We have been feeding her the food and amount the previous owner recommended but I'm not sure if its right for her.
We are feeding her on Wagg dry food ( as used by previous owner ) and we am giving her 3 handfuls in the morning and 3 handfuls at night.
Being new to Staffies we would welcome any help or advice as to what food and how much.

To be completely honest, I don't really go by amounts, apart from her mince.
So long as she's looking healthy and not putting on weight, or loosing weight, we stick to what she's being fed.
I guess I can't really help much lol

As long as Roxy is healthy, energetic, bright eyed and happy I wouldn't worry too much. Again I don't have set amounts it can depend on the quality of the food and the amount of exersize, also the weight of the dog.

Same here. I tend not to bother too much with food weights. If your dog is growing properly, not too thin or too fat & is healthy, bright eyed & happy, then they're getting the right amount!
Have you looked at the recommendations on the pack? They usually give guidelines re: the amount.

I find it hard to follow those recommendations, I'd personally class Molly as a medium dog, but because of her weight, she's really a large, hence why I don't really bother with specific amounts.
In all honesty, I'd pop into your vets and have a chat to the veterinary nurses, they're usually always willing to help with any queries we have. We're lucky to have a nurse that owns staffies, so she knows all the tricks and suitable toys

Re: How much dry food
Hello....three handfuls sounds like not enough to me but then again i'm in agreement with above, if shes happy and at a happy medium in weight then just stick with what your doing. If your not sure then take your dog to your vets and get your dog weighed, then you should be able to get a good idea of how much to give her. In what way do you think that the food is not good for her? Is it because she is under/over weight or is it because of her over all condition etc? How long have you had her? If she was 6 months old for excample when you got her then you would need to slightly up the amount in accordance with age. x
