I am one happy bunny! After a bit of training, Stanley has learnt to not pull at all on the lead! I know it doesn't sound like much, but I just hate it when dogs pull so I really wanted to teach Stanley not to. He walks by my side and sits when we stop to cross the road. I'm so chuffed! Big Grin It's quite funny actually because I have to keep checking that he is still attached to the end of the lead, it feels so light now he doesn't pull Laughing

It's funny how such a little thing can make the whole walking experience tonnes better!

It may sound like something very simple but it is one of the hardest things to train a dog to do, not pull on the lead. Well done you should be very proud of your acheivement.

Stanley is gorgeous! He's like a big toffee. Well done, it is difficult to make them walk nicely on the lead. Mine still pull occasionally now when we are walking from the car to the park, they wind each other up but are perfect on their own!

It sounds small, but it's really important to get your dog to walk behind or beside you, so that's really cool Smile it'll probably have an impact on the rest of your training with him. Any advice on how you did it?

I just kept praising him every time he walked by my side until eventually he learnt that it was obviously a good thing to do! Sometimes I would show him a treat and keep it in my hand and hold my arm across my body so that he could see I was holding a treat. This meant he would walk next to me and look up to see if I was going to give it to him Laughing After a while I gave him the treat and praised him lots.
After a week or so of doing this, he learnt to walk close next to me and he now gives me the odd glace just in case I might suddenly produce a treat for him lol
