Yeah it is a big drop down, but the insurance is cheap, the tax is cheap, the fuel lasts much longer, and its easier to park,so its a winner for me.Plus it was a cheap car to buy,and being round christmas time,i didnt have loads to spend.

no theres nothing wrong with a small car, its still a big drop down from a mondeo to a swift. i taught all the tax was the same for each car in England or has that changed, it used to be £160 from a mini to a merc

it used to be one price for all cars a few years ago, £160 for the year for all cars. yere after changing then, here in ireland it will would cost you €350 to tax a 1.6 mondeo for 6mths, and about €175 for a 1 litre. but all brand new diesel cars just cost around €200 for the year too tax

They changed it a little while back over here Shane, it's all done on how much co2 the cars emmissions produce now. My 1.6 saxo vts is £135 for 6 months, my other half drives a 2.0l mondeo and the tax is only £85 for 6 months Sad

i know its the same here but it has been like that for the last 20yrs it goes on you're cars CC, they only brought in the emissions thing last yr because its a European directive otherwise we would be still paying through the nose for tax, but you can only get the cheap tax if you buy a brand new diesel car, i say if you can afford to buy a brand new car you can afford to tax it aswell
