If was to ever see a dog shut in a car on a hot day I will smash a window of the car, then phone the police and tell them what I've done and why.
There's no way of knowing how long the police would take to get to the car then it could be too late.

I never realised how quickly the car can heat up, I don't have 1 either so no chance of that happeneing.

I would never dream of leaving a dog in a car for any time. I might go into the shop to get a pint of milk but if you plan to go for a day out or go for lunch why do you bring the dog?

I never knew he heated up that quickly. Never left a dog in a car cos I knew it was dangerous, just never realised in detail why

thanks caryll,i too never knew a car heated up that quickly.shame the police man that left his dogs in the car never knew it either .i best be quiet on that one cos it makes me so cross.

Longest Tilly has ever been in the car alone is the time it takes me to pay for my fuel, you shouldn't take a dog with you if they can't be with you. Plus that what if someone broke in and stole her as I know she wouldn't put up a fight
