Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
Depends what you want to feed, for a bit she needs to stay on whatever the breeder had her on, then do you want wet/dry/raw.
Moo is on Fish4Dogs and I rate it, heres some reccomended dry foods

Oh and she's not underweight for 9 week old, she's very cute, they all develop differently Xx

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
sorry didnt see the last bit of your reply her weight was 3.5lb last week when she had her first injection done, and i also got told that was underweight for her age but im hoping since then she has put on a fair bit as she looks like shes got a little bigger
shes had 3 meals today for breakfast i gave her half a weetabix made with lactol puppy milk, then she had a small roast dinner Gammon, a little bit of veg and some small cut up potatoes she loved it! and i just fed her some of her bakers biscuits and tinned meat with a bowl of her lactol milk,
so im trying to feed her most healthy stuff and the milk to help her grow a little maybe but just needed a few more ideas of whats good for her xx

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
Its politley called rubbish lol!
Whatever you swap her too will need to be done gradually so decide what you want to feed, I would reccomend dry or raw.
If you choose dry then Fish4Dogs, if raw then there are a lot of people here who can advise.
I buy online and works out cheaper and gives you a wider choice.

Sorry to go off topic, but the pic you posted shows she has balding also around her eyes, thats a classic puppy mange sign.
Once shes carrying a bit more weight get help from the vet to help clear this up.
As for dry puppy diets. My babies are weaned on Fish4dogs, Simpson puppy plus Beta puppy.
My adult dogs eat CSJ who also do puppy food too.
Buy the best food that you can afford
Heres a pic of what a 9wk old puppy should look like body wise.

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
We moved Rolo on to Arden Grange Puppy complete, he's done fantastic on it. We still give him his vegetables and his fresh/cooked meat, but his main diet is the complete biscuit. It's a reasonable price and he is now just moving up to the adult version.

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
What's your budget?
Orijen, Applaws and Fish4Dogs are three of the best IMO, they're all quite pricey though, Orijen being the most expensive, then Applaws, then Fish4Dogs.
James Wellbeloved, The Natural Dog Food Company and Wainwrights are all fairly decent mid range, mid priced foods.
Skinners (field & trial) is the best budget food IMO.
The above are all dry BTW. Is it dry you want to feed?
Young pups should be on 4 meals a day, yours should probably be on 5 considering her suspected age and weight.
I'd cut out the weetabix if I were you, you'd be better off feeding porridge if your going to use a grain although scrambled egg would be better IMO
ETA: Also, puppy food is a bit of a gimmick IMO, most good complete adult dog foods contain the recommended amounts for pups anyway. If money is a factor (puppy food is more expensive) then you're better off with a higher quality adult food than a cheaper, lower quality brands puppy food if they're the same price if you see what I mean...
This website - http://www.whichdogfood.co.uk/ - especially for getting a rough idea of daily feeding costs.

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
on most occasions i would would agree with the others about the way to change over food as to stop upset tums but in this case i feel bakers is so bad i would stop all together and start from scratch with the new choice of food
and re the human dinner you feed i would not recomend gammon as the salt really bad for them and the potatoe you need to be carefull for eyes(in potatoe)and should always be skinless
and re the puppy milk not really needed for a weaned pup as only should be used were there a large litter and not anough milk to go round from the mother
sorry if im coming across as rubbishing every thing you have done upto now it just its best to get the pup onto the posible diet as soon as possible
and i also agree looking at the picture classic sign of puppy mange so would also look for another vet if the one that give first jab didnt spot it

sorry if this alarms you but looking at the pic of your girl again it seems she got small lumps on her head legs and nose with look like she got a low amune system .
please just for peace of mind get her checked over by another vet as she could be anemic due to worms or some other type of parisite

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
Galadriel- iv looked at the recommended dry foods on this site and iv worked out the costs and how long they last etc.. and their all pretty resonable for the prices it seems so expensive when you look at the prices for a 15kg bag but when you work at the average she will eat and how long it will last it makes you feel so much better! if you get what i mean? lol they all work out to last months going by the daily feeding amount, so im not really fussed about the price now im just left to whats best out of the fish4dogs or the natural dog food they both sound really good so which of the two would you recommend?
and thankyou so much,
and bigwazza i dont take any of it the wrong way the slightest if im not doing something right i expect to be corrected and i just want whats best for my pup so thankyou x

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
yes she does have the small marks on her head, nose, legs and down her sides/back at first on her legs and head i thought they may of just been bite marks from fighting with her brothers and sisters, but i also noticed she had spots aswell and i wernt sure if its normal for dogs to get spots :S but they dont look sore or anything just look like their filled with puss and im definatly going to go to a different vets tomorrow morning to get her checked out x

and speaking of different foods im sitting here on my laptop and all i hear is her farting :/ so i have a look and oh god she has the runs now could it be something shes eaten today that she shouldnt have? i thought cleaning up normal hard poop was bad enough

the puppy milk will also give her runny bum
but the farting is total normal staffy behaviour lol they stink lol
for good hard stools get off the bakers and tinned food
deside on which dry food your going with make a start
every couple of days add a tin of sardeans to one feed and she will start to pile on the pounds and will get a lovely glossy coat

if your going for fish4dogs just stick with that and you will still get the same result
and re your dads staff there no such thing as a long leg staff there only one type

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
oh really? i actually thought there were long legged staffs as iv seen tall ones which people call "long legged" and short stumpy staffs that people call "short legged" haha oh dear but either way he has long legs lol
i think im definatly going to go for fish4dogs i just had a look at the reviews and everyone that has tried it has had great results! and seemed really pleased with it.
iv heard scrambled egg is good for puppys and dogs so could i maybe feed her this in the morning or for lunch along with her dry food throughout the day? x

I feed my boys raw, and have fed it to harv since he was a pup. It is another option of you to think about if dry food doesn't agree with her

I think Denise gave you a rough idea of what & when to feed on your other post? If you go by that you won't go far wrong. I'd still be inclined to split the food into 5 meals as she's so small. I really can't see that she's much more than about 6 weeks old, certainly doesn't look 9 weeks.
If you go for dry food, then you can't do much better than fish4dogs - much, much better than Bakers!

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
Fish4dogs is good, the pups i weaned on it looked a picture of health.
No bum burps as i call them happen on this diet.
Another very good dry food, that no one here seems to know about is SIMPSONS
http://www.simpsonspremium.com/index.php?route=common/home
Its excellent food for a pup to IMO plus no bum burps with this also, the added bonus its slightly cheaper. If you ordered a bag say before 11am the foods at your door the next day
Everyone has a different opinion on which diet is best, so its now upto you which to go for.
As for the eggs, just give her them as her breakfast. Once 4 mths old knock that one on the head, a good puppy complete diet has everything in it that she needs to grow and be healthy.

Simpsons is a pretty good middle of the road food although I personally don't think it's comparable to Fish4Dogs as it contains a lot of grain (including maize) unless you go for the sensitive version

actully if you do a comparision search both come out equel on most sites so simpsons is also a good one to try if she dont like fish4dogs.
dont know if they have changes there compisition recently but arden grange seems to have slipped a little with there reviews

Re: good food for my staff puppy please?
Well I've just gone off the ingredients:
Fish4Dogs Puppy - Cod 34%, Potato 21.3%, Herring Meal 26.5%, Salmon Oil 9.6%, Beet Fibre 5.2%, Brewers Yeast 2.0%, Minerals 0.8%, Vitamins 0.6%
Simpsons Puppy (chicken and rice) - Chicken Meal (min 30%), Brown Rice (min 26%), Chicken Fat, Oats, Maize, Dried Egg, Beet Pulp, Potato Protein, Chicken Liver Digests, Brewers Yeast, Salmon Oil, Minerals, Linseeds, Vitamins, Yucca Extract, Cranberries, Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS), Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), Nucleotides, L-Carnitine, Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin.
I'm not saying Simpsons is a bad food as I don't think it is, I just wouldn't put it in the same catagory as Fish4Dogs
Arden Grange Puppy/Junior - Fresh Chicken 18%, Chicken Meal* 18%, Whole Grain Rice, Chicken Fat*, Beet Pulp, Egg Powder, Whole Grain Maize, Dried Brewers Yeast, Fish Meal*, Linseed, Fish Oil*, Minerals, Vitamins, Nucleotides, Prebiotic FOS, Prebiotic MOS, Cranberry Extract, Chondroitin Sulphate, Glucosamine Sulphate, MSM, Yucca Extract. * Preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract.
The Arden Grange isn't too bad, one I'd put in the same group as the Simpsons although it has less animal protein...

Well dont knock it till you try it Galadriel. I would'nt recommend a food if i thought it was crap.
The salmon one they do is brilliant, infact this was given to a friends stafford i know that had chronic reoccurring ear infections and after 8wks the ear infect was no more.

I'm not saying it's crap and different dogs will do better on different food.
The sensitive, grain free ones are good and I would put those in the same catagory as Fish4Dogs, just not the ones with grain in
