My previous 2 dogs (non staffies) which I rescued at the same time were skin and bone, so sad to see them in such a sorry state. They kept being sick when they ate as they thought it was their last meal and just shovelled it down. Lived to 18 & 13 though and probably the best dogs I ever had. My son in law rescued a 3 week old barely live kitten that was lying with its 4 dead siblings from the back yard of a house he was working in. He took off at the bloke that lived there but he told him to mind his own business - or words to that effect. So he took this tiny tiny kitten to the vet who said he wasn't sure if it was too far gone. She wasn't and that's how he got to own the lovely Honey who absolutely adores him and sits and licks his bald head Big Grin yuk. I know its down to personal choice but I have only ever had rescues and although I miss out on the cute little puppy stage, the rewards are immeasurable. People who do this to animals are only one step away from being cruel to people - they have no feelings, are a waste of space and no use to anyone.

RSPCA Animal Rescue - skinny staffies Empty Ruby

Post by Melwilk47 Fri Jun 29 2012, 15:07

Minty,
You have done a very beautiful thing. Poor little Ruby... It makes me so so happy to see how happy and healthy she looks now, you have given her a second chance and that is such a beautiful thing. I don't know how any human can let any animal get to this state, it absolutely makes me ill inside. They are such beautiful little personalities, each and every one of them so special, rescue is definately the way to go. I rescued my cat Jasper from the RSPCA, he was not underweight when I adopted him, but he is definately a very happy cat now, with lots of friends to cuddle around the house Big Grin
Ok getting emotional now Crying or Very sad
