Shhhhh dont mention B-A-L-L
Romeo has a new toy. its a foot ball. and is he just GAGA over it!
So much in fact.... that i cant say the word BALL in my home any more because he starts to get super excited and bounces everywhere and whining.
And heaven forbid... he see's it! when i take it outside he sits in prowling position ready to strick, waiting for me to kick it... its crazy
But... he has no intrest in any other ball he sees... just his own.
Romeo has only 2 things that are his that he obsesses over... this disembowled elephant toy and now this foot ball. if you pick up the toy he will come over and take it away from you and the ball... well.... i'll have to take a video one day to show you.

You'll really have to get that video on here!
Dempsey's too thick to know what words are.
Except 'cat'. He knows 'cat'. He hates 'cat'.

i dont need to say stick... romeo picks up every damn one he see's anyway.
Romeo knows alota of words actually.
H eknows food, if you say that he will go to the kitchen. if i say Mia he gets excited because that is my best friend and he loves her. he even knows what stop to get off on on the metro to go to her house because of the auto voice on the metro. He know's Minna who is his breeder. some days i wonder if he really knows the meaning behind the words... but he gets super happy when i say them

Moo knows words also, I just think its down to training and repition. She knows 'can't reach it' if the objects too far, 'upsies' on the sofa, 'nanny' mum lol, 'insies' when we play out front. She most certainly knows 'pub', but she also knows if its 'river pub' or 'the local'

I'm sure that most dogs know exactly what every word you say means, unless they decide not to understand you that day

Re: Shhhhh dont mention B-A-L-L
Ledger goes crazy over most balls but just destroys anything less than a boomer ball. As for words along with the usual he knows 'toilet' 'breakfast' 'teatime' 'cuddle' 'ratty' he likes to put his front paws on the wall at the stream and watch for any of the rats swimming about and 'bed' at this he goes upstairs and waits for me to bring his dental chew or biscuit up oh and 'back' is left and 'this way' is right for when he goes the wrongside of a tree/lampost when on lead
Nearly forgot he also knows 'cwtch' he didn't like to stand to have his paws wiped so now on comand he turns, sits leaning to one side and cuddles in between my legs so I can get to his back paws

I call it selective human/canine communication. Tyson chooses not to understand 'no' and 'down' at times but he never misunderstands 'biscuit'
