Romeo lives up to his name... ehhmm
So.. Romeo has hit that all vital 'teen' years of his life... raging hormones and such. the only problem, he is becoming the hump bully of the dog park. no dog is safe, male, femal, old young! And he is very rough and doesnt respond to anything when he is 'in the mood'
People leave the dog park because i just cant control Romeo's.. lustful ways.
any ideas?
his balls have to stay, he's a show dog.

You will need to keep him on lead until you can control it, but i don't know how you would go about it, i never had an entire dog before!

its a pity. because when he is with a more dominate dog that tells him where to get he has so much fun... but if they are even the littles bit submissive... BAM!

Sorry I have no idea, only had girls. You just reminded me of my sisters dog, Millie nearly castrated him when he jumped on her back. She chased him round the garden snapping at him. Poor boy had to run with his tail tucked very tightly under him

Yep, must be kept on a lead IMO, I would go mental if someone else's dog was uncontrolably tryin to hump Max (and I think he might have summut to say about it un'all )

It may be raging hormones along with the indiscretions of youth. As it is a dominance issue you need to control it as you would not want a fight on your hands which could arise if some dog objected. I know that most owners at our dog park get really peed when a dog tries to mount their dogs. Try a spray bottle with water in it. A quick squirt when he starts may snap him out of it. Some people put a drop or two of citronella oil in the water.

I've never had an unaltered dog, but I would keep him on lead and maybe steer clear of the dog park until he stops ignoring you. You don't want him to hump the "wrong" dog and get into a fight or something!

That one is a very tricky thing and the lead is probably the only way. Other than that, backpacking is kinda a dominant intact dog trait. The key is control. Since Romeo seems to be in need, the long lead and watching his bodylanguage is probably the only way you will have success. Most of the time it takes quite a bit of work to get them to listen in those situations. Don't be surprised if you have him under control for a while and then, bam, you have to go back to the lead. It's the life of a show dog.

Re: Romeo lives up to his name... ehhmm
yeah pretty much i think its our fate
i'll try a long line lead on him i think. i really wish other dogs would snap at his harder and put him in his place... they normally just run away from him or let him -_-

The long lead should be helpfull and a spray bottle might help.

If de sexing is not an option as you show him, maybe you could consider getting him chemically castrated. Have not used it myself on my male but have threatened him with it but have heard from others that it works well.
