Neuticles - What is your view?
I saw an insert on DSTV today regarding the insertion of implants called Neuticles (Registered Trademark) when male dogs are neutered so that they have the appearance of being intact. According to the inventor featured in the insert, over 250,000 petsworld wide have had the procedure.
Quote from their website:"Loving pet owners are less 'neuter-hesitant' when neutering with Neuticles and their pet is unaware that he has, in fact, been altered. With Neuticles- its like nothing ever changed. "
Sometimes, owners request larger than breed size implants which makes one wonder just which side of the leash has a problem.
What do you think?

I have heard of this in Australia too. The Bondi Vet did one at least (or maybe that is two). I think this first started in America.

I really can't see the point! If you want your dog neutered then fine, go ahead. If you still want him to have his bits then leave em alone!
Do they really think that the dog is either aware or bothered by the fact that his balls have gone? Do you see them trying to look at where they were with a wistful look in their eyes, or checking behind them in a mirror?

From a showing perspective though ?
Surely a male with apparent balls is good !!
Unless at shows u have to have paperwork stating if ur dog has been de-balled or not ? I've no idea...
I actually think its a nice idea.

Rather defeats the object of showing! You don't need paperwork unless you've had a dog or bitch neutered for medical reasons & they already have offspring.
I'm interested to hear why you think it's a nice idea?

That stuff is damned expensive , one of my customers in Ireland manufactures it and we put a laser mark on the bottom of every bottle. To successfully test the line they run over 100,000 bottles over night at £50 per bottle , do the math !!

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
How big are the bottles?
About 50mm tall , and 25mm wide , sort of size you get eyedrops in (that's their other product) I've not seen the botox lines , only the eyedrops ones

Caryll, apparently the implants cost between $40 and $80 depending on which of the range you want. Just reading on the web it seems that a lot of dogs get botox and there was a Basset in UK who had a face lift. Granted the dogs cheeks were excessively hanging.
I think (I am not sure) that your male needs to 'appear intact' for showing. So perhaps this would be a reason. That been said, I still wonder which side of the leash actually has the issue.

"A dog must have two apparently normal testicles, fully descended into the scrotum". These neuticles aren't testicles & certainly aren't 'descended' anywhere, so you'd be thrown out if you were found out & possibly banned from the KC - certainly they'd be a fine.

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
I honestly don't see the point. If you plan on showing your dog, don't neuter him. If you are not breeding or showing, and choose to neuter him, why bother with the neuticles? It doesn't make any sense to me. If you don't want your dog to look neutered, don't neuter it!!

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
Pretty sure it would be against the rules to show a dog with these Faux testes! It's dishonest! Of course this would be invented in USA. People are so ridiculous here! Another thing to think about is, if your dog is found as a stray and gets adopted out, they will re-neuter the dog thinking he has never been done! So that would be a second surgery for him that is totally unnecessary! I think it's an absolutely ridiculous idea!!

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
Didn't think of the possible 're-neutering' angle, that's a very good point. It is completely ridiculous and absolutely pointless.

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
Yes Cat, they were invented in the US. For the record, I have raised this topic as a point of discussion only. Personally I think the idea is ludicrous and certainly not in a dog's best interest.

I have never understood why people think having balls on their dog makes THEM look harder. Maybe they are closet nudists and used their dogs as a representation of themselves being naked when they can't be. Bloody good psychoanalyst me.

I've often wondered the same thing! They use dogs as an extension of their own inadequate d*cks!

Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
I i saw this done on bondi vet once and it was done because the girlfriend wanted the dog neutered and the boyfriend didnt, the dog was aggressive around other dogs when she took him out jogging but the boyfriend didnt like the idea of the dog having his "nuts" extracted! so they had the dogs nut replaced with false ones but they had to be ordered in from america the dog was fine and the owners were happy! each to their own is what i say!Ty wrote:I saw an insert on DSTV today regarding the insertion of implants called Neuticles (Registered Trademark) when male dogs are neutered so that they have the appearance of being intact. Re: Neuticles - What is your view?
I can see the point of the facelifts and things like that for health reasons but neuticles? Do they think the other dogs are going to make fun of them in the park
