Stella goes for her first walk with a dog walker tomorrow:-o
I am sooooo nervous already
But the girl is fantastic and Stella and I have been meeting her very often in the park so they know and like each other.
I was pleading her to keep her on the leed unless it is 100% secure...
Please keep fingers crossed I don't think I will be able to do any reasonable work anyway tomorrow until she writes me Stella was fine and is back home
But I know Stella will have fun
Thankx

If she's an experienced dog walker & they get on well, I'm sure she'll be fine!
Janey has a dog walker & she's really good with Moo!

Re: Stella goes for her first walk with a dog walker tomorrow:-o
I know, cheers:-)
Yes the girl is nice sometimes just probably more "relaxed" that I am but on the other hand the dogs listen to her and she walks them every day she spends all her days dog walking so I trust her.
And Stella has made such a big progress recently. We can pass dogs and she just sniffs and walks on, we can pass people and unless they start talking to her she walks on...it is unbelievable:-) Recall better as well:-)
But I will leave her a sticky note here... just such a wee reminder to have her on lead until she sees that everything is alright and 150% safe around:-) Or maybe rather to have her on lead all the time. But as I said the dog walker is experienced so she should know well what she can afford to do:-)
Thanx:-)

Your always concerned the first time, my mum or walker has Moo, now I'm more worried when I get home and she's not there, only to find they have kept her for the day and haven't dropped her home yet

Oh, I'd hate that! Not to have that lovely welcome of waggy tail & big grin - I really look forward to that when I come home!

Hi,
the dog walker texted that Stella is back home after almost 3 hours run with some 15 other dogs...she usually walks 5-8 but then other dog walkers join and the group can be really massive. She texted that Stella was an absolute pleasure to walk
I'm so happy
She charges for walks like this just 6 pounds.... I asked her to keep a tenner I think it is a very good price. She is fantastic the dogs love her, she has toys and treats and bottles of water with her and everything. I am very lucky I live local with her

I meant that the dog walker has bottles of water and a bowl with her so the dogs can have a wee drink because the walks are really quite long and they all run and chase balls and each other... So they need liquids

I know, thell me about it I used to walk Stella and Ben who is my ex's dog and it was fine because Ben took care of himself but having more and most of them off lead I'd get a panic attack and a heart attack at once in no time

Re: Stella goes for her first walk with a dog walker tomorrow:-o
Hi,
Stella is fine, no limping at all for weeks or maybe months
She has calmed down she can be off lead much more often, the dog walker had her again yesterday for two walks because I was away for a long time and she said that Stella was a wee angel
I am so proud
The dog walker covers more or less just Govan here; she picks up the dogs on her way to Elder Park and that's it... She takes them to Bellahouston sometimes; probably when she does not have too many of them. So I am very lucky. She does not have anything like a big business, it's just her, amazingly inexpensive and she is like a dog whisperer if you saw her how all the dogs listen to her and love her, it's unbelievable. When I work from home I always try to go to the park when she is there so Stella can play and pick up some good manners
Holly is welcome here if you ever need anything

Re: Stella goes for her first walk with a dog walker tomorrow:-o
Thanx
Next walks Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
I am less anxious now because I see she has calmed down so much and the previous walks went well. But I am still nervous obviously
It's almost unbelievable how all the patience and recall training and treats and stuff are paying off now... Stella is absolutely fantastic, everybody loves her, people in the park always want to give her a clap, nobody is scared of her, so she's sort of a positive staffy public relation as well in addition to being the best ever wee doggy pal
But I am still nervous when I know she is outside with somebody else than me, worried that something bad might happen But it's great for her she loves the walks with many dogs around
Xx

It is great when all the hard work pays off.
Stella is being very well socialised and this can make a huge difference to a dogs behaviour around others.
Try not to worry about her being with someone else, she is learning very important lessons and is doing very well.

Re: Stella goes for her first walk with a dog walker tomorrow:-o
Hi,
I can't resist and have to go back to this one.
The dog walker girl told me the other day when we met that Stella "had wandered off" couple of times and that she "had had to go and look for her" when she had walked her.
The park they go to is not too big and the dog walker always has several dogs to look after and several friends to chat to so I think I have to find another dog walker now because I can't imagine Stella walking around just like that in the park with cars behing the fence, holes in he fence everywhere, gates as well, people passing by, kids playing, other dogs behind the fence etc...
I will definitely continue working on the recall but I need a different dog walker... It's a shame. I was so happy I found this one, she is great, but probably only for trained dogs. She actually said that her dogs ran away across the road there once when they saw a dog there...but she was lucky there was no car
So it's Stella and dog walking

At least she was up front about it. Hell of a resposibility looking after someone else's dogs. This girl sounds good. May prove difficult to replace. Perhaps a firm word with her?

I know, she is fantastic:-) Actually Stella's recall is almost perfect when the dog walker call "Stella, biscuits!". Stella loves her and she loves Stella and all the other dogs.
It's just that she is more relaxed than I am, I am maybe too careful...
I'll speak to her about it because I would harly found anybody more handy and closer...
Cheers X
