Meet the dog walker....
Got a dog walker coming to meet Ledger and me tomorrow to see how he is/find out how he gets on on a walk etc with me prospectively looking for him to stay at home for the odd day so I'm not always reliant on my parents when I am at work.
Now it might seem odd but apart from family the only people I have had in my house were prospective buyers and then I kept Ledger in his crate. Im in two minds as to whether to have him roam as usual (I have a child gate separating the living room to the front room which he would stay behind initially) or introduce him from the crate
also who else has a dog walker? obviously the main thing will be if Ledger is happy but is there anything that you would ask them?

Re: Meet the dog walker....
If he is safe behind a gate (we have this for Tommy) then let him wander
Good luck and hope everything goes well
As far as questions I would want good references but I think most important is that meeting and the feelings you get from both of their body language

I don't have one so wouldn't know what to ask, but I would think you'd be better to let him roam as normal not put him in his crate? The guy is potentially gonna be walking him so will want to know what he's like?

I agree about letting him roam if he has a gate, then they can suss each other out. As for questions, ask what his walks entail? Will there be play as well as lead walking? How long for? Or just lead walking? Good luck, let us know how you get on

I'd ask for references as well. It's also helpfull if you can tell them of any weird or dangerous habits your dog has while on walks.

I asked for references from my walker and also asked to see their disclosure check. At the end of the day you are entrusting your pets safety and well being into their care and not to mention house keys so you want to ensure both you and doggy are comfortable with this person.
Worthwhile to find out how big their walks are as if the take too many out in one go I'd be worried.
Hope it goes well, good luck x

Good luck with meeting the dog walker Jules, I take you will all be going out for a walk together so they can see where you go, which dogs are good to play with etc. I'm sure it all be OK, try not to stress too much ><

Re: Meet the dog walker....
I would be inclined to follow this dog walker while she is working , if that is possible, as the one we know is terrible with dogs and very irresponsible with the dogs in her care.. she walk at least 5 at a time 3 of which are off lead and she has no idea what they are up to or how far they rome because she is always on her phone.. She fails to pick up after them too. Make sure you are getting what you're paying for and that she is as responsible as you hope she is

Good luck with it all, I've never had one myself but I'd say they would be very useful if they were good

Re: Meet the dog walker....
Well she seems lovely and was understanding when fussing Ledger on her knee and he got excited and threw up all over her but he welcomed her into the house, we tested me leaving the house and her entering without me and he even got onto the crates in the back of her van (why won't he get into mine). Seems all good going to try a few odd days £10 an hourand she will either walk him from mine or take him to her paddock and do some agility for an hour
