Food composition
Just a quick question.
This is the composition of what I give my dog. I obviously cant say what the name is but does it look ok?
Ingredients
Fresh Chicken 18%, Chicken Meal* 18%, Whole Grain Rice, Chicken Fat*, Beet Pulp, Egg Powder, Whole Grain Maize, Dried Brewers Yeast, Fish Meal*, Linseed, Fish Oil*, Minerals, Vitamins, Nucleotides, Prebiotic FOS, Prebiotic MOS, Cranberry Extract, Chondroitin Sulphate, Glucosamine Sulphate, MSM, Yucca Extract. * Preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract.
Typical Analysis
Protein 29%, Oil 18%, Fibre 3%, Ash 6%, Moisture 8%, Omega6 4.1%, Omega3 0.7%, Vitamin A 20000 IU/kg, Vitamin D3 1350 IU/kg, Vitamin E 135 IU/kg, Calcium 1.3%, Phosphorous P 0.85%, Copper 22 mg/kg (as Cupric Sulphate).

Personally I'd prefer a higher meat content. Which one is it? It's ok, you can mention names.

It's actually one of the better ones - I'm surprised there's not more meat content, though. Have a quick look through this...

Agree with Caryll here, the meat content is low, i'm switching Zeus onto Applaws puppy food which is 75% dried chicken

I do feed her tripe once or twice a week now though. Weight im not sure of but a big bowl ful. She loves it but farts like my ex wife

If the meat content isnt too great I could add Forthglade or something like that to increase the meat. But would that be giving her too much protein? The AD has a 29% content.

It's not a bad food at all, not one of the best IMO (I prefer a higher meat content and no grain) but nowhere near the worst.
Plenty of dogs do well on it.
I don't see a problem with adding Forthglade or something if you'd prefer to do that than feed a complete food with a higher meat content. There's not really any such thing as too much protein as long as it's good quality animal protein.
ETA: The likes of Orijen and Applaws have around 40% protein from an animal source (not grain)
