Open a tin, put it in the saucepan (the contents that is). when it bubbles, serve. I call that hand made
Just make sure its a tin of soup, not a tin, warm cider, not so good

Blue that is true. It confused me when they put a ring pull on soup, well any tin, get a gob full of sweetcorn and chicken with cider sauce

Re: anybody good at making a chicken soup
They have mags for utensils etc for the elderly to help them with day to day things they should make one for drunks so we don't get confused as easily

Re: anybody good at making a chicken soup
I used to do chicken soup, but whether it'd be one you'd like, I don't know!
I used to take the meat off of a roast chicken & set it aside. Then put the carcass in a saucepan half full with boiling water & add about 3 or 4 peeled & diced potatoes & some diced carrots. Add salt & pepper and maybe some herbs (Tarragon is good with chicken, or maybe some Rosemary) & simmer for about 45 minutes. Then I'd remove the carcass, wizz the soup up in a food processor & add the chicken to the mixture. Re-heat & serve with crusty bread.

Re: anybody good at making a chicken soup
Do you not have tins round your way Caryll
Only joking, sounds good and you make it sound so simple, if I tried that I go to remove the chicken carcus and it would be welded to the pan

I've been cooking for 40 years, so I suppose to me it sounds simple.
I really don't like tinned soup! They're full of salt, and if they're not then they have no flavour!

Y'see that's another reason I don't like tinned soup. I reach for a can of lager or cider, pull the ring, lick my lips in anticipation & then get a mouthful of cold tomato soup!

i use this site a lot for ideas, and even if you don't have all the ingredients it doesn't matter as everything is a matter of taste not written rules

I can make a nice cabbage soup. I don't think you should try it with your * condition.

Don't do split pea, probably would remind you too much of your probs. Stick with soups that don't look like your "soup."

Re: anybody good at making a chicken soup
I make leek, potato and chicken soup!
Boils Small cubed potatoes til theyre half done, change the water and bring back to the boil, add sliced leeks and cooked roasted chicken prices, a couple of oxo cubes!
Simmer it all and serve with loads of buttered crusty bread!!
Its not a thick soup though!

Re: anybody good at making a chicken soup
From a nice Jewish lady (who knows Chicken Soup) who was once my nearly Mother in law: cover one whole chicken with water. Add carrots, leaks, parsnips, cellary and some potatoes. Chunky is fine. Simmer unitl meat falls of carcass, fish out the bones and blitz. Sever with knaddles (Matzo balls). Good for the man flu and whatever else ails you. Dont forget to season.

Could be the cider. I've just had two glasses of red wine, though, & I find it funny too!
