Introducing myself and Bella to the forum

Hello all..! My other half found this forum for me as we have recently got ourselves a Blue Staffy Bitch named Bella, she's 17 months old and we have had her 12 days today! The reason I wanted a Staffy was my daughter Ruby found one roaming the streets some months ago bought him home, we were able to re-unite him with his owner after a couple of weeks but we missed him so much we decided we'd like our own. My other half Ade wasn't as keen as Ruby and myself on getting a dog but I did start looking at rescue shelters, so many beautiful dogs looking to be re-homed. Anyway Ade came round and agreed to us having a dog but wanted to get one from a private home as he thought we ought to at least know the dogs history, we decide we didn't want a very young puppy so I put an an ad on one particular website and had a few replies, Bella had been with her previous owners from a matter of weeks old. The reason for them not wnating to keep her was they have two very young children aged two and three and another due in August... Bella was fantastic with the family but the young Mom was finding her growing brood a handful and felt they no longer had the time to give Bella the attention she so deserves. She's settled in well and is well behaved, very sociable and loves to play with other dogs and is great around other people! That's abit about us, I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you...

Hi Maxine , thanks for the great introduction from me and the kids Great choice of dog she looks really pretty and sure you won't regret having her. Just please exercise caution in the early days with her and make sure the kids respect her space. We don't really want to talk about incidents but these days its unavoidable. What must be clear is you have a great dog with the potential to be a fantastic family pet but you must just proceed slowly. Don't molly coddle her as she has had a past life and you don't know what she was used to. Let her come to you and build confidence and always monitor her with the kids

Hello all and thank you for the warm welcome
Bella has settled in very well and as some of you have said, we are giving her space to get used to her new environment. She's actually started to put her front feet into her harness when we go for walks and is already listening to my commands while out. I had her off the lead yeterday and was very pleased with how she comes back when told to, mind you, there were no other dogs or people to be seen so we had a lovely large area all to ourselves. You all have lovely pets and I look forward to knowing abit more about them and yourselves..
