The *zipper* on the nose
Dear all,
I am getting my STB pup in less then three weeks. (extra excited!)
However, he has a so called "zipper" on his nose. His is just between the top of his nose and stop. The hair looks like to have crashed into each other like a little mountain (or one lady said that it is hair growing in different direction).
It is a very unwanted?
How is it inherited?
Any comments appreciated!
tnx.

Re: The *zipper* on the nose
He's very cute, to be honest I'm not too sure about the fur on his nose, but some of the members here do shows so hopefully they'll be on in a while and can give you some more answers!!

Re: The *zipper* on the nose
Thanks!!
he is a cutie-pie!
We felt in love with him when he was 3 days old! Wouldn't change him for the world!!! I am so curious how will he turn out. As cute puppies are, I can't wait for him to grow up!

Re: The *zipper* on the nose
I shouldn't think the 'zipper' is a problem. I've never heard of a dog being passed over in the show ring because of it.
Did your friend say why they thought it was undesirable?

Thx for the comment.
Unfortunately she did not.
This are her exact words: cattle dogs can have it too -- on a Labrador Retriever they call it a *zipper* and it is very unwanted. Sad as I have seen some very nice pups totally eliminated due to this hair growth.
(She is from USA if that means anything).
I have read FCI standard and nothing about the "zipper" or some undesirable things are mentioned.
So, you do know this silly fur-growing-zipper?

Re: The *zipper* on the nose
I've seen it in Labradors once or twice, but it was just considered an oddity rather than anything bad.
It's just the way the hair's growing, I really can't see a problem with it, it doesn't change the shape of the head or alter the general expression so I can't see a problem.
Maybe someone else here knows otherwise?

Re: The *zipper* on the nose
Tnx Caryll!
I also don't see any problem either. In fact, this hair on the muzzle makes him look special. He is like a real Bully now. Whit this irokez muzzle-hairstyle.
I agree that this will not change the head or the shape of the muzzle. The only important thing for me is that he has a nice body and excellent temperament.
(as I am sure he will).
