a cautionary tale for everybody
Hi everyone just a quick note to let you all know what happened at the weekend.
While we were busy enjoying the summer Kappi decided to taste our plant selection, when we realised what the herbert was up to we stopped him straight away but to late.
Monday morning Kappi wouldnt look at his breakfast or take a drink, when out on our morning walk he decided to throw up twice then i called the vets for advice who said bring him in,
Just before reaching the car to go to the vets he threw up big style,at the vets i was told the type of plant he ate (a variety of lily) could be fatal to cats and not very good for dogs!!!!.
So please do what we are doing now and keep an eye on what your critter is munching on,
Kappi is taking medicine with his breakfast and should be back to being a full time herbert in acouple fo days
Cheers
Doug and Deb and Kappi

Glad he's OK
It's surprising how many things we have in our gardens that can be toxic.
This is pretty good - http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/_resources/resources/factsheets09/factsheetpoisonoussubstances09.pdf

I'm glad that kappi is going to be ok
I try to watch what buster eats, but he is out in the garden on his own sometimes. We only have grass and a couple of bushes, but I don't know what the bushes are - they were here when we moved in and I'm not very good with plants How can I find out what they are?

Maybe put some pictures of them up and see if anyone here knows what they are?

Re: a cautionary tale for everybody
Oh goodness. We have had the same problem in the past but with much less toxic plants. Still have to keep an eye on them so that we make sure they don't eat bad stuff. Hope Kappi is well quickly! Good find Kathy on that link!

This is good advice.
I had to fence my onions off from Marley - he was showing a bit too much interest in them.

Re: a cautionary tale for everybody
Hope Kappi is back to bouncing off the walls soon.
They will eat anything given a second to do so. The other week I made my daughters butties for school. 2 t-cakes, turned round got her lunchbox to put them in, turned back in and only 1 there but a dog looking at something interesting on the ceiling
