What a fright!!!
The bank holiday Monday just gone I had the fright of my life.
Butkus is normally up and at the backdoor for breakfast about 9ish maybe 10 at the latest but it was rolling on midday and hadn't heard a peep.
I went out to check on him and he couldn't stand up!!!!! His back end had gone, he was very miserable and no energy, he wasn't even wagging his tail.
He had chewed through some plastic in the garden a few days before but we did not know whether he had swallowed it or not It was part of the ongoing project out the back....the shed.
Phoned the vets (which I dreaded being a bank holiday) found out where the emergency vets was near me. They said maybe he had a blockage from the plastic if he had swallowed some.
Took him down there, he couldn't even get out of the jeep, had to get my boyfriend to lift him out and carry him.
I was in tears, it was hurting me to see him so poorly.
After a check over at the vets it turns out he had a pulled muscle in his left back leg being the train wreck that he his when running around and after 2 jabs of pain killers and a long sleep back at home he was bounding around the following day like nothing had happened.
He hadn't swallowed any of the plastic but I removed it all from the garden anyway just in case he takes a fancy to it again.
I am so so glad that it was just a pulled muscle but what a day to pick to be ill.
At least I got to see that it's not only me who is overly attached to him tho and felt upset, the boyfriend did too

Glad it turned out to be a pulled muscle. They do like to worry us and swallow anything they can get in their mouth.

Re: What a fright!!!
Thank you for all the responses.
Yeah he's back to his normal bounding around self now. Full of beans as they say, well in between sunbathing that is
I cannot tell you how relieved I was that it was only a pulled muscle. I couldn't even take him for his second jab when he was a pup my boyfriend had to do it because I didn't like the look on his face with the first one, it brought a tear to my eye.
We got a special bond............
I'm only 28 next week but got a few grey hairs showing, bet a few more appeared after that lol, still he is my baby boy
