Staffie Teeth problems
Hi, are staffies prone to teeth problems? Took on Daisy in January and everything was fine. Now her gums are going brown and her teeth seem to be chipping? I try to brush them but it's very hard to get her to let me do it. She has regular hews and dental sticks. She's stopped eating biscuits and has become very fussy. Have booked her into the vets this evening as am very worried.

Re: Staffie Teeth problems
If she's stopped eating hard things (chews/biscuits etc) then she may well have a gum infection. It isn't just staffs that can be prone to this, many dogs suffer from it.
That's one of the reasons I like to feed raw. My dog's teeth are sparkly clean & so are his gums.
If you don't want to go down the route of raw feeding, though, you should try to get her used to her teeth being cleaned because there will always be a build up of tartar otherwise which is a perfect breeding place for bacteria.
Good luck at the vets - hopefully just a course of anti-bs and a bit of cleaning will do the trick.

When you say raw feeding what do you feed, how much & how often. I run a pub so she has meat on Sundays, if they save any & I cook up mince & chicken.

Rocky used to have the Dental Sticks, but they started to make him sick. He just has his stag bar now which is much more healthy .
