best food for my dog
basically gunners comming up to a year now so time to think about food for him, my bitch was on harringtons but i then changed to a locally produced product from a local farm but i want to chnage again beacuse she has gone off it! so basically whats better harringtons or recently heard of this pero dry food for staffies whats that like? i know their not the best out there but they also have fish once a week and a treat at the end of the month they have a half a half a leg of lamb each with bone so i dont wanna spend loads on a wainwright or someting. so how good is harringtons compared to pero or which one would you recomend?

No idea on Harringtons or pero, I use Wainwrights complete for my 2... Not had a prob with it at all, various flavours and it's considered an affordable 'good' food.

Re: best food for my dog
Why not feed raw, its the best diet going according to advice here (I don't feed it as it doesn't suit me), but its not expensive.
Wazza one of the mods feeds Pero and rates it, Harringtons is better than most but not the best.
I feed Moo Fish4Dogs and likes it, I was JWB before and she enjoyed it but got bored of it and prior to that she was on RC, again I would rate it.

And I also buyover the net which gives more choice, its delivered and cheaper

Re: best food for my dog
I'm just moving to Pero from JWB they do 2kg trial bags for £6 which came with a box of treats Ledger seemed to like it so I used the £5 voucher and stocked up and also got the 10% off for ordering 3 12kg bags (I leave a sack of food at my parents as he stays with them when I'm at work). I'm still running down the last of the JWB so he is getting a mix of the two at the moment and all seems to be going well only difference is his poop is a bit firmer

Re: best food for my dog
Pixee wont touch any dry dog food now. She was on JWB for a while. While she will eat raw, theres certain things she wont eat raw, so I have found a diet that seem to be working, in the mornings she will have frozen lamb nuggets, which I defrost, see link
http://naturesmenu.co.uk/products/Lamb_Nuggets/Frozen_Nuggets/Frozen_Nuggets/. It does contain bones and veg.
Tea times, she will have cheap steak, which I fry in olive oil lightly, and mix it with either pasta, rice, always some veg and sometimes pototoes. Or chicken. Once a week she will have some lambs liver or kidneys again mixed with pasta veg etc. Twice or 3 times a week, she gets a bone from the bucthers. I always try to often her the meat raw to see if she will eat it. I have found she wont eat raw liver or kidneys, she likes them cooked lightly. Now and then I will mix herbs in, fresh ones. So far so good. And her coat is lovely and shiney. I ever tried pero dried staffy food, she turned her nose up at it.

Re: best food for my dog
I have just changed to Nature Diet - Lily doesn't like dry food at all or biscuit of any kind. Its a very good mix of good stuff and she looks well on it and because its a high protein mix, she 'goes' less too and not much smell!!
http://www.naturediet.co.uk/ but I buy it from Amazon 18 packs for approx £15.
Oh and boiled liver as treats but take that into account with her food as its also food - but she will do anything for boiled liver
