Re: Couldn't quite believe what I was reading
"We’ve all seen their owners – sporting tattoos, Union Jack T-shirts over their ample stomachs and forbidding frowns – swagger down the street with one of these slavering weapons at the end of a short leash."
That is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous stereotypes I've EVER read! In fact, it's actually laughable! My fella's a little rounder these days, covered in tattoo's and softer than Skye and that's saying something! Haha.
I have a few also, does it mean I should put on a few more stone and snarl at old ladies?
There's some morons about!

Unstable? staffies and rotties? im sorry but thats laughable! yes dangerous to unruly owners who dont care but what about the ones that are sensible and responsable?
Re: Couldn't quite believe what I was reading
Erm reading and re-reading. Taking a bit of time for some stupid reporter's words to sink in.

On a serious note though, if Skye got REALLY excitable there is a slight possibilty she could pee on someones shoes

Re: Couldn't quite believe what I was reading
What a load of Rubbish!
I'm a short lady who is also an OAP and yes I do have an ample stomach (think more Dawn French than Keira Knightley ) but I don't have any tatoos and my days of swaggering down the street are long gone.
But I do love my staffie (my 6th) to bits and I can become a sleavering weapon to anybody who tries to insult or harm him. Oh, and he is already microchipped thank you and he wouldn't leave my side to wander off unlike the Labs I have also owned in the past who are well known as a breed to have wanderlust.

Re: Couldn't quite believe what I was reading
"Staffies, Rotties and Bull Terriers – none of them banned – are as dangerous as unexploded bombs.
This is partly because they are usually in the wrong hands. The owners of these unlovable and potentially-lethal beasts are often as dangerous as their animals".
I have just tried to tell Rocky the above and i think he wanted to pack his little suitcase and leave. The part about being unloved particularly upset him. He is now off to phone the samaritans and the Citizens Advice to see where he stands legally.
Unfortunately they have now stopped legal aid so he cannot get any help from them but there are some good canine rights lawers who may be able to help him. He is looking through the yelllow pages for some telephone numbers of the top ones.
Honestly

Re: Couldn't quite believe what I was reading
I know, it's just outright propaganda! We won't get to put our point across, because people only seem to want to focus on the handfull of bad dogs (or should I say owners!) We get it on a regular basis, people crossing over the road or looking at us like we're lepers! Funnily enough though, the "older" generation absolutely love my dog and say how much of an excellent breed they are. Few little scum bags get some and the whole breed should be banned! It's a joke.
