Newbie with a puppy
Hi, Ive been reading posts on here for weeks, but never posted.
Me and my wife have a 6 month old grey/brindle staffy. She is our pride and joy. Weve had dogs before 3 boxers and an akita (not all at the same time)
Bella our puppy, is well behaved and her training is coming on nicely, she is good off the lead and seems really intelligent, unlike our boxers lol. We spoil her rotten, she has her own space IN our bed.
I cant belive how loyal and protective she is towards us and our grankids, she adores them.
So thats us, Im sure I will ask stupid questions !!!! In fact I will start now.
recently she has started crying when my Mrs leaves the room, something she has only done the last week or so. She is never really left alone for long. Will she grow out of it or do we need to train her not to.
Thanks
Andy

Re: Newbie with a puppy
welcome to the forum from me and Tilly
Surprised it's taken he this long to start crying , my dog mopes if all the time one of us leaves, and if she sees me packing my case for a night or 2 she won't even come and say goodbye (I travel with the job) If it's a problem then you must just try and get her use dto it by prolonged times away and learn the hard way. I'm 100% sure the sleeping in the bed stuff doesn't help but hey it really is pot..kettle..black scenario . Think of her as a little kid and thats how the are

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
No such thing as a stupid question. Try to build up the time she is left alone gradually, she should be fine.

Re: Newbie with a puppy
thanks for all the replys. She only cries when my mrs leaves. I know the sleeping in the bed is not ideal, but she gets cold at night :-(
We are both soft with her, more so than with any of our other dogs. I try to blame age (ours not Bellas lol)
We will try the separation thing.
As soon as I sort out how to upload a pic I will, or get my mrs to do it lol

Hi & welcome.
Bella's a beauty!
Has she been spayed? If not, then the crying could be because she is close to her first season.

Hiya from me, Kara Tyson and Zeb.
Yr Bella is absolutely gorgeous, as for sleeping in yr bed i have 3 who all sleep in my bed under the duvet cos they get cold otherwise, they are like children only difference is they always want cuddles and kisses unlike kids who grow up and want there mates instead.

Re: Newbie with a puppy
Hi there welcome!
Theres lots of differing views on when to spay. Some do it at 6 months, some do it after a season some to it after two or three seasons and some people don't do it at all. All entirely up to you and what you feel is best for your dog in the long run

Re: Newbie with a puppy
Hi and welcome from me, Millie and Bella.
She is absolutely gorgeous.
My Bella is a bit like that with me. If I go into a shop and my daughter is waiting outside with her she starts crying and making a lot of noise. She even done it today at the vets when I walked about 10ft away from her and patted another dog. I crate her when we are out and when she is in the crate she settles great, doesn't cry and just goes to sleep
