Just wondering, i want to start running again when i loose a bit more weight but do you think at 9 (in June) Lexi is too old to start that caper? Shes still having problems with her weight goign up and down which i'm trying to fix with wormers and diet as vet can't find anything wrong and just says shes pining so i don't want to be starting a running regime if shes illish.

I think that if she is in good health it shouldn't be a problem provided you slowly build up with speed and distance but I would also ask a vet.

Well i cant run the length of myself and she can fairly run around the yard which is where i will be running to start, just will have her on a lead. So shes already ahead of me in stamina!

Taken slow she will probally be a great motivator for you as well. I have been trying to get Suki to go with me on runs but she still wants to either stop suddenly to sniff something or even worse run back to do so.

Like i said i will be running around my yard, i have a round about thing then a long drive so a few laps around that is as good as any work out! So i can't imagine her being too excited about sniffing around when she does it every day haha. When i'm feeling more confident i would like to start in more public areas though Smile

I jog with Ledger but it can be very much stop start early on in the jog with him wanting to sniff which is ok at a slow pace I have got a hands free canix lead which is elasticated and has a bit of insurance if he decides to stop suddenly and I dont

I tend to take him for about 3-5 miles but if you are starting out try a c25k (couch to 5km) plan which builds up from a walk jog walk which is good for you and I would think would also ease Lexi into it nicely

It should be OK so long, as said above, you take it easy to start with and maybe keep to soft surfaces (grass) to take care of Lexi's joints, yours too for that matter.
