does your staffy swim??????

When Butkus was first socialised with a labrador when he was 10wks old he followed her into the river for a swim. Ever since then he has been a great lover of water and hops in every opportunity. A lake, the sea, a river even a puddle
He doesn't even do doggy paddle anymore (unless of course he unexpectedly falls in like a few months ago) its more like a full on stroke, quite funny to watch.

Does anyone else have a staffy that loves the water or is it just his labrador friend that has rubbed off on him?

butkus hates the rain too and having a bath...wierd

never had the chance yet with billy so dont know, but some dogs on the forum do lots of swimming

Violet won't even walk through a puddle I've been in water up to my knees and she's worried about it, but not worried enough to come in and save me! Lakes, the sea, ponds, paddling pools and baths are all no-nos.

my 2 boys both love the water . Especially Winston , the young one, he is a real water baby! He should have been born with webbed feet/paws!

We have taken Rocky for walks along by the riverside and he just keeps looking at the water. I think he may well be plucking up the courage to have a dip sometime who knows, would be great if he did.

Bella's first experience of water was a couple of weeks ago at the dam. She was happy to paddle round the edges but when she went a bit further and realised there was no ground under her she was not happy at all. She wouldn't even paddle in it after that My older dog is a lab x collie but she won't be encouraging her as she's not too keen either

Tilly is scared of moving water and will pull away from it , so rivers and the sea. Canals are ok they don't scare her but there's no way she's going to jump in

Suki won't go near the water

Hooch loves water but wont swim he will lay in a big puddle like a hippo thou lol. Stan use too hate water until he met hooch ever since hes gotten alot better with water and will go and have a paddle lol thats about asd far as he goes thou. x

We took Pippa to the beach and she freaked. She hates having a bath too. Going to try some calmer water to gradually get her used to it (I hope) lol

My two love the water.

Kita (the old one) learned to swim in shallow still water and she just smoothly glides through the water.

Izzy learned the hard way when she bolted in the river and suddenly realised there was no more ground under her feet.
For months she would only paddle in the shallows trying so hard to reach the stick we'd throw in to encourage her.
One day she she just took off, however she is funny to watch as she sort of lunges as she swims.

Tyson loves the water. Looking forward to taking him to the sea in 2 weeks time.

Zac seems to love the water. He had a swim when we went to Cornwall a few weeks ago and he is always jumping in puddles and brooks. He also likes the rain ... unlike me LOL

Seems like its half and half then.

At least I know he's not weird. Some of the things he does still make me wonder mind...

I remember when Butkus fell in the river in January. My boyfriend was washing off a rugby ball as it was muddy from kicking and throwing it about with his boy. Obviously Butkus wanted it and tried to pounce on it when it was being washed, he fell in and his face was a picture, he was freezing bless him

He didnt look impressed to say the least and he didn't manage to get the ball off my boyfriend either

Me being the softy that I am with him dried him off and gave him a cwtch (whilst trying to hide my laughter).

Nope, my staffie does not like to swim or get wet at all. He hates the rain or any type of sprinkler and is very nervous of my parents pool but used to play with puddles when he was small. Weird!

Ha! Lola hates the rain, isnt overly keen on a bath but LOVES going into the sea for a paddle and swim

Olly fell in a canal and sank he dragged himself out and will not go near water again!
