Something to keep him calm?
Hi
Not been on here in a while, life has been a bit hectic
Betty and Boris are now 13month old and growing fast, We have a small problem and wondered if anyone could help us?
Boris has a small tumour on his front leg and is going in for surgery to have it removed, the vet has told us he needs to stay very calm for about a week after surgery because of where the tumour is, lots of movement will keep splitting the wound open as it is on the joint.
As you all will know Staffy's are not the best dogs to try and keep calm especially at just over a year old he is really giddy and gets excited when anything happens lol.
Does anyone know of anything that works that we could give Boris to try and keep him calm for a week or so?
Sorry for the long post but wanted to explain as fully as I could.
Thank you

Re: Something to keep him calm?
The only thing I can sugest is crate rest. You could try piriton tablets to see if they will dope him up a bit (one tablet twice a day), but otherwise I don't know.

My greatdane kept bursting the skin on his tail after it was damaged. The vet put his tail in a splint/cast thing to stop it bending until it was completely healed. Sounds a bit drastic though?.

How about some brain taxing toys to wear him out

Crate rest would be the most productive I think , other stuff unless you are keeping a constant eye on him could prove more stressing for you Hope it goes well for you anyway

I use something called Kalm Aid for Elwood when he gets a bit stressed and hyper. You can get it from the vet or online. I think its about £13 for a 250ml pump bottle. It works in about 30 mins after giving it and really does calm them down without doping then up. Hope this might help.

We focused on alot of extra training and mental stimulation to tire Suki out. We also gave her some extra chews.
