What type of leash do you use and why?

I have a chain, but it weighs down his collar, catches on his backpack and hurts your hand of you short leash it.

Thinking of a nylon one but like the look of rope ones?

I use a softex one. It's a woven fabric that's very strong & a bit kinder on the hands.

I won't use a chain - as you say it hurts! I don't like rope ones because you don't get quite the same hold on it - it can slip through your fingers much easier (although I used a thin rope slip lead for showing). Webbing ones are better, but again, they can can be tough on your hands, although not as tough as chain!

the main part of marley's lead is chain but is connected to a padded fabric handle, we use chain as he has a habit of chewing it

xena dont have a lead becasue she well train and she not bothered by other animals.

sam/billie as a extending lead becasue he/she doesn't like bigger dogs

I think ours is nylon. I just want something I know isn't going to break or hurt my hand.

I like the look of the rope ones as they are thin and nylon are thick (width wise).

i use a strong leather lead (not on the list lol)or if a long walk over hills fields a webbing three way lead so he can walk a bit further ahead

I use a double ended nylon lead. When we're on the main road, we have the lead clipped shorter, then when we get to the pedestrian area, it gets unclipped so that its longer and gives her a bit more freedom. To be honest, she doesn't go any further away when it's unclipped that she would if it was still on short, but it gives her the option I suppose!

I use a nylon one so that I can wrap it around my hand if I need to. I've also got a tape extending lead. Tried a few cord ones and they have all broken. The tape one has lasted a few years now.

I got a really comfy nylon one off of eBay, the seller makes them mainly for husky's so they're really strong and also quite nice to hold.

I use a chain with a nice leather handle. Only use a chain because Roxy will chew any other type of lead. She likes to play fetch with her lead

Tilly has a chain lea ith a padded nylon handle , which she has half chewed through already , I use this when taking her to canal at end of road etc as the lead can just hang round my neck when I let her run. If we are going anywhere busy, and when my daughter is walking her she goes on an extender (cord flexidog) so she can still have a little freedom without worrying about control

That's where I got Violets double ended lead from - can definitely recommend them!

We use a leather harness and leash. Nothing else seemed to last, because EVERYTHING has to go into the mouth for a nibble. He is a lot better with the leather and it is much sturdier.

i use an extending lead for chloe as i cant let her off lead yet, i keep it relatively short when we are walking to places (streets etc) and then let her have the run of it when we are somewhere safe like a field or something. we also have a 50ft nylon lead so she can have a lot more freedom, and so we can work on her recall, she loves it

For the others i have nylon leads, and a chain one for lottie. Not for any particular reason, its just a collection we have acculmilated over the years lol!

I use the double ended training lead for Harry when walking along the road or lane but an extending one in the Park or fields.

I use a long leather lead as it does not hurt my hands when Sweep pulls

I have a chain for my staffy because she has broken a double lead before when she gets spooked and tries to run away.IIt's a short one with a leather handle so it doesn't hurt my hand!

Fleece lined or training leads.

We use a nylon leash for Tip. I never liked chain ones and like having somthing sturdy and that still is comfortable.
